NIELIT O, A, B, & C Level Eligibility 2026: The NIELIT exam is one of the most popular exams conducted twice a year in January and July. As per the NIELIT exam dates, the entrance exam is held for O/A/B/C levels and the applications are accepted in September/October (for January exams) and March/April (for July exams). To apply for NIELIT exam, candidates must meet the minimum eligibility criteria or else their candidature will be rejected at a later stage. You can only register for one level at a time.

You must score at least 50% marks in each module (both theory and practical).

NIELIT O Level Eligibility (Foundation Level)

The O level is equivalent to a Foundation Course in IT. It is designed for those seeking entry-level IT roles like Web Designer or IoT Assistant.

Academic Qualification Required

Work Experience

Note

Institute Students: 10+2 (any stream) OR a 1-year

Must have 1 year of relevant IT experience

Candidates passing the NCVT-DP&CS exam are also eligible without additional experience.

ITI/Diploma after 10th class.

Direct Applicants: 10+2 OR a 1-year ITI/Diploma after 10th class

Graduates: Any candidate with a degree from a recognized university can register directly for O Level without prior IT background

NIELIT A Level Eligibility (Advanced Diploma)

The “A” level course is one step above the O level and is equivalent to Advanced Diploma in Computer Applications. The course focuses on programming and software development courses and is a best option for candidates who are planning for advanced level jobs.

Academic Requirements

Work Experience (Direct Only)

Institute Students: Must have completed O Level OR a Polytechnic Engineering Diploma after 10th/12th.

Must have 1 year of relevant IT experience or teaching experience at a recognized institution.

Graduates: Can enroll concurrently in an accredited A Level course while finishing their degree.

NIELIT B Level Eligibility (Master’s Level)

The “B” level of NIELIT is equivalent to Master of Computer Applications (MCA). This course is designed for advanced computing and professional employment.

Academic Requirements

Work Experience (Direct Only)

Institute Students: Completed A Level, PGDCA, PPDCA, or a Graduate/Polytechnic Diploma.

A Level/PGDCA holders: 2 years of relevant experience.

Exemptions: A Level holders are exempt from the first two semesters of the B Level course.

Graduates/Diploma holders: 3 years of post-qualification relevant experience.

NIELIT C Level Eligibility (M.Tech Level)

The “M” level is the highest tier of the NIELIT exam and is equivalent to M.Tech in Computer Science. The course is aimed at developing senior professionals like Project Managers or R&D Scientists. It pays a handsome salary as well.

Academic Requirements

Work Experience (Direct Only)

Both Types: B Level, B.E./B.Tech, MCA, M.Sc. (IT/CS), or a Master’s degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Operations Research with a background in Math.

Requires 1.5 years of relevant IT or teaching experience.

Q:   What is the qualification for NIELIT?

The eligibility criteria of NIELIT exam varies as per the course. To be eligible for the NIELIT exam candidates must have minimum 10+2, ITI, Diploma, or a B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc./MCA. 
There is no minimum percentages. For higher courses, students must have relevant post-qualification experience like Scientist B, where a B.E./B.Tech in relevant IT/CS fields. There is no specific number as such. However, at each level, a candidate needs to complete the papers within the stipulated period. At NIELIT O/A/B/C levels, candidates can appear in any paper, in any order, if the subject has been covered by the institution running the accredited course and as mentioned on the application form. Candidates can directly appear in examinations if they satisfy the eligibility criteria as applicable to them.

Yes, the candidates will be able to seek the Common Service Centre services to fill out the NIELIT Online Examination Application Forms (OEAF). The required examination fee can also be paid through the CSC services. Candidates are advised to complete the NIELIT OEAF process before the final date to be registered for the entrance examination of their course.

If you are not satisfied with your NIELIT O Level result, you can request a revaluation. Please apply within 1 month of the O Level Exam result 2025 being declared. You would need to pay a revaluation fee of INR 200 per question.
