In an exclusive interaction with Shiksha.com, experts at MITCON Institute of Management talk at length about their PGDM program, namely Business Administration, Agri-Business Management and Pharmaceutical Management. They elaborate on the detailed admission process, eligibility criteria, selection parameters, fee and hostel facility.

The experts also talk about the MITCON Employability Program (MEP) that solely aims at helping students become industry-ready. The institute is well known for its quality placements and hence is a better choice for PGDM courses.

Q: What is the basic difference between PGDM and MBA program?

A: MBA is a two-year degree course offered by institutes that are affiliated to universities, however, PGDM is a two-year diploma course offered by autonomous institutes.

The MBA curriculum is architectured and regulated by the affiliated university and generally involves more theoretical knowledge whereas, PGDM curriculum is architectured and regulated by the institute itself and is also updated on regular basis. The curriculum is mostly industry-embedded and is designed to fulfil the ever-changing demands of the evolving industry.

Q: What are the various PGDM programmes or specialisations offered by MIT CON  Institute of Management?

A: At MIT CON Institute of Management, we aim to offer those courses and specialisation options to students that are in high demand and suffice the industry requirements. We offer courses in:

  • PGDM in Business Administration, which caters to all core areas of management. It includes specialisations such as Marketing, Digital Marketing, Marketing & Agri Management, Marketing and Pharmaceutical Management, Finance, HR and Supply Chain Management
  • PGDM in Agri-Business Management
  • PGDM in Pharmaceutical Management

Q: What is the basic eligibility criteria for admission to any of the PGDM course?

A: For admission to any of the PGDM course offered by MIT CON Institute of Management, the applicant must have a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent in graduation (45 per cent reserved categories) from a recognised institute or university.

Applicants seeking admission in PGDM in Pharmaceutical Management must have a Bachelor’s degree in either Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Biotech, Chemistry or Medicine (MBBS), Veterinary Sciences, BAMS, BUMS or BHMS.

And, applicants seeking admission in PGDM in Agri-Business Management must have a Bachelor’s degree in either Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Husbandry, Agrochemicals, Dairy Science/ Technology, Fisheries, Food Science/ Technology, Forestry, Home Science, Horticulture, Veterinary Science or any graduate with interest or experience in Agri-business or Graduates working in Agri-business, NGO’s, Co-operative or Corporate Sector.

Also, as a part of the eligibility criteria, the applicant must have a valid score of any of the nationally accepted management qualifying exams such as CAT, MAT, XAT, ATMA, CMAT and MH-CET.

Q: What is the admission process? On the basis of what parameters the final selections are made?

A: As a part of the admission process, all eligible applicants need to fill up the online application form on the institute’s official website by paying a nominal fee of Rs 1,000.

After the detailed profile screening, the institute will invite shortlisted candidates for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview round. Post the admission confirmation, selected candidates will need to make the payment of the first instalment which is Rs 50,000 within seven days.

The final selections will be made on the basis of the following criteria:

Q: What is the total cost of the two-year PGDM program?

A: The total cost of the programme will vary on the basis of the course that the students are opting for such as the total cost of PGDM in Business Administration program and PGDM in Pharmaceutical Management is Rs 2.63 lakh whereas the cost of PGDM in Agri-Business Management program is Rs 2.38 lakh.

Q: Is this a residential program?

A: This is a residential program but the institute does not offer its own hostel facility. Rather, we have tie up’s with best in class Hostels to operate and manage female students accommodation. And, for male students, MITCON actively provides assistance in finding and deciding on the accommodation thus giving the flexibility to choose the one best suited for individual needs.

There is a refundable hotel deposit of Rs 5,000 which is to be deposited with the institute.

Q: How do you help your students become industry-ready?

A: We aim at preparing our students in a way that they have a chance to stand out of the crowd of other management graduates and hence, we have our MITCON Employability Program (MEP) that helps us in achieving our goal. The programme aims at improving students in the following areas:
