- The curriculum addresses the evolving complexities of financial markets, preparing students to meet the industry's growing demand for skilled professionals.
The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has recognised GIM's Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programme as equivalent to an MBA degree. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programme provided by Goa Institute of Management (GIM). GIM Goa is also amongst top 2% of globally ranked B-Schools by AMBA.
XLRI Jamshedpur only offers PGDM courses. The academic courses offered at XLRI include a two-year full-time Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGDM BM), Post Graduate Programme in Human Resource Management (PGDM HRM) and Double Masters Degree in Supply Chain Management & Logistics (PGDM & MS). It also offers a General Management programme (PGDM GM) for a duration of fifteen months.
Admission to XLRI PGDM courses is granted based on merit in XAT. This entrance test is conducted by the Management school for course admissions. Aspirants can check eligibility requirements and apply by visiting the XLRI official website.
There is no difference between MBA and PGDM programs. In India only Universities can award MBA degree. Universities and colleges affiliated to universities which award MBA management degree follow syllabus approved by University.
Syllabus doesn't have flexibility for educational changes to align with industry requirements as approval process are long and bureaucratic in universities. B-Schools which are independent and award PGDM have liberty to modify their syllabus easily. Industry value some PGDM degree more than MBAs.
Master in Business Administration (MBA) is a two year degree course in the field of management. In India, MBA degree can be awarded by any recognized university or by a Business School affiliated to any university. Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a two years Diploma course offered by the institutes that are recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and which are autonomous and not affiliated to any university. It is not mandatory that a PGDM is equal to MBA.
PGDM institutes accreditation by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) makes an institute's PGDM course equivalent to an MBA. There are a large number of similarities between the curriculum of both MBA and PGDM.
An MBA institute follows a fixed curriculum as it will be based on the university guidelines which occasionally may not be aligned to industry requirements. Autonomous institutes do not follow university standards, so it is have the flexibility to align its curriculum according to industry standards and change in the business environment. Some of the PGDM from IIMs, XLRI etc has more value then MBA.
However MBA of FMS DU, IIFT etc. have similar value as IIMs. Students are advised to chose Institute based on its ranking not on nomenclature of degree.
Refer https://www.shiksha.com/mba/ranking/top-mba-colleges-in-india/2-2-0-0-0 for ranking of BSchools and their degree management courses.
You can apply for Global Business Management or International Business Management graduate certificate programs in Canada. Also if you want to specialize in marketing, finance or HR, these courses are also available. But Global business management programme is of 2 years mostly where you are eligible to get 2 to 3 years of PSWV. Rest are of 1 years where you get only 1 year PSWV. PSWV - Post Study Work Visa.
