Here's why should you study PGDM from IIMS Pune

In an exclusive interaction with Shiksha.com, experts at International Institute of Management Studies, Pune talk at length about their two-year AICTE-approved PGDM programme. They elaborate on the detailed eligibility criteria, admission process and the selection parameters along with the total cost of the program with or without accommodation benefits. The institute offers various scholarship options to choose from. This year a special scholarship has also been introduced for the wards of Covid warriors which include healthcare professionals and the support staff. IIMS has a track record of over 98 per cent placements every year with the highest package of Rs 15.8 LPA and the average package of Rs 6.5 LPA reported this year.

Q: What is the eligibility criteria for admission to two-year PGDM program at IIMS, Pune?

A: To be eligible for admission to PGDM program at IIMS Pune, the applicant must have a  minimum aggregate of 50 per cent in graduation in any stream from a recognised university or institute.

Along with this, the applicant must also appear for any one of the nationally accepted management qualifying exams such as MAT, CAT, CMAT and ATMA and hold a valid score of the same.

Q: Can you explain the admission process and selection parameters in detail?

A: As a part of the admission process, all eligible applicants must apply online by filling up the online application form on the institute’s official website. The application fee is Rs 1,400. Post detailed profile screening, the shortlisted applicants will be sent Group discussion and a Personal Interview round invitation. There will be two interview rounds in total.

Due to the global pandemic situation, all personal interview rounds will be conducted online through Skype.

To fairly evaluate all the applicants, the institute has assigned weightage to different parameters. It includes:

• Entrance Test ( CAT / MAT / CMAT / GMAT / CET / XAT / ATMA ) Score: 40%
• GD/PI Score: 35%
• Past Academic Record (Class 10 and Class 12-level and graduation): 15%
• Sports / Cultural / NCC / NSS Merit: 10%

Basis the overall profile of the students, the final selections will be made.

Q: What are the various specialisation options available to students?

A: At IIMS, we aim at training students at par with the latest industry standards. Hence, while designing the curriculum, we invite corporate leaders and professionals to share their suggestions about what new practices and trends are being followed at the industry level. This helps us understand their expectations from the students and inculcate those practices in our curriculum.

Here, we offer a plethora of specialisation options to students that caters to all core areas of management. It includes:

Q: How do you help your students become industry-ready?

A: Industry-readiness is the utmost important skill that every student must acquire to secure a quality job for themselves. IIMS here plays an important role in making students undergo various value-added certification courses and language courses.

These certification courses include SAP R3, Digital Marketing, Six Sigma, Foreign Language and Business Analytics, and the language courses include German and Japanese.

Apart from these short term courses, we make students undergo mandatory 45-day winter internship and 90-day summer internship programme post which they are required to submit a detailed project report.

The idea is to facilitate as much practical exposure to students as possible to make them stand out of the crowd of thousands of other management students who will be graduating in the same year.

Q: Can you share some of the recent placement statistics?

A: IIMS has a  track record of over 98 per cent placements every year. This year also, we have tried to maintain the same.

Flipkart, Deloitte, Federal Bank, XL Dynamics, Air Charter Services, Kotak Bank, City Bank, saint Gobain, CEAT Tyres, JK Tyres, Hawkins, Cargill, Kitply, Britannia, Bajaj Group, Mondlez, Kansai Neroloac, Berger Paints, Markets and Markets, Amdocs, Tata Housing and Cognizant are some of the leading and renowned recruiters who participated in the placements season this year. We witnessed the highest package of worth Rs 15.8 LPA offered to students while the average package stood at Rs 6.5 LPA.

Q: What is the total cost of the two-year PGDM program at IIMS, Pune?

A: The total cost of the two-year AICTE-approved PGDM programme is Rs 7.2 lakh.

For students willing to opt for an accommodation facility on campus, there is an additional fee of Rs 90,000 per year that includes hostel charges and food. The rooms are available on the twin sharing basis.

Q: Do you offer any scholarships or financial grants to students?

A: We do offer various scholarships to students. And, looking at the unconditional contribution of healthcare professionals during the global pandemic situation, IIMS this year has introduced scholarships for children of Covid warriors.

This scholarship will provide a 10 per cent to 20 per cent tuition fee waiver to the candidates whose parents are either Doctors, Nurses, Paramedical staff, Cleaning staff, Ambulance drivers, or any other hospital staff member.

Apart from this, we offer Merit Scholarships to students who have either scored 60 percentile or above in CAT or XAT or have a minimum aggregate of 60 per cent in Graduation.

And, we also have scholarship options for the wards of the Armed forces and Ex-serviceman of the Armed forces of India.

Students who do not fit in any of the above categories, may also apply for the education loan to which our admission office will provide all the assistance in the documentation process.
