Mystory@Emil T Joseph

I’ve always wanted to be in the field of business. I just love numbers. So I decided to pursue Commerce. My teachers in Intermediate also helped me in figuring out which career would be the best for me.  But after my Graduation, things were not as easy as I had thought. I didn’t know from where to start and what to start with. I started exploring about Management courses; asked my friends, relatives, teachers and read about it on the Internet. After a thorough research, I finalized MBA.

The next big challenge was choosing a college for MBA. My priorities were good ROI and reputation of the college. After in depth research on the Internet, I came to know about IPE, Hyderabad. I don’t know why, but I felt Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), Hyderabad was the most suitable college for me. I applied to the college, they called me for GDPI round and got selected. So that’s how my dream came true.

How I cracked college admission

For MBA entrances, I thought I will just try once. In the first attempt I will get clarity about the test and its difficulty level, so that I can prepare accordingly. So I registered for MAT exam and surprisingly I scored 78 percentile in my first attempt only. I’d like to mention here, that I hadn’t taken coaching classes for MAT. I answered almost all the questions by applying common sense, that’s it. 78 percentile was more than enough to apply to IPE, as the cut off asked was only 50 percentage. I also have an above average academic record so that too helped in my selection at IPE.

What I gained from my college experience

The best part of college life is hostel life. Our hostel never sleeps.

Studying at IPE has been a wonderful experience to me given their facilities, faculties, supports and all. There’s a moderate amount of freedom too. We are free to take our decisions. We can attend whichever classes we want to.

Students can even sit in classes other than theirs if they really want to but they rarely do that.

Along with attending class and other curricular activities, I also participate in extracurricular activities. Being one of India’s finest colleges, students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and be actively involved in campus life. We organize many events in college. I am an active member of the finance club, the event management club and the food committee. Facilities on the campus encourage students to engage in all kinds of extra-curricular activities.

But the best part of college life is hostel life. Our hostel never sleeps. It’s the hostel where debates and discussions happen, a place from where ideas emerge for academic projects; committee meetings are held.

I can’t compare IPE with any other MBA college ((other than IIM’s). It’s not about rankings. Life at IPE as an Ipeiean is something incomparable and simply wonderful.
