The admission process was profile-based, wherein the focus was more on my knowledge and passion in the BFSI domain rather than my aptitude score. The interview process was very smooth and we had a healthy discussion on some key financial aspects.

Banking Insurance and Financial Services (BIFS) is unique compared to other fields because of its ubiquitous nature. Choosing it as a career was never a tough decision for me, primarily because I always wanted to be a part of it.  The changing trends and working of the economy, the banking sector and stock market have always triggered my interest and curiosity towards this field.

The real challenge came when I started my quest for a decent college offering quality education in Finance, especially in an environment when the whole sector was going through a restructuring phase. I did thorough research and found out about GIM's BIFS programme. The PGDM in BIFS course at Goa Institute of Management is specially curated to bridge the skill and technological gap between industry demand and students' ideation.

The BIFS sector has changed a lot in recent times. So, I wanted a course that could match the emerging trends in the corporate realm and was not outdated. I did an extensive and in-depth review of the curriculum and found out that the BIFS course is unlike other traditional courses. It is more niche and technology-oriented with the inclusion of Digital Banking, Fintech (Blockchain, Payment Technology, Wealth-tech, Insurtech, and Regtech), and Artificial Intelligence, apart from the core finance subjects.

The admission process was profile-based, wherein the focus was more on my knowledge and passion in the BIFS domain rather than my aptitude score. The interview process was very smooth and the interviewees tried to assess my enthusiasm and openness to learn. We had a healthy discussion on some key financial aspects and after that, it was clear to me that the BIFS course was the best option for me to pursue a career in.

Finally, I got admission to the Goa Institute of Management. I was very excited to learn from the exceptional faculty that GIM has. The pedagogy and exposure provided by the college to its students from the very first day of the course are simply amazing. The mentor meetings, simulation exercises, industry talks, practical assignments and live projects have enriched my personality better than I could have ever imagined. With over 25 clubs and societies, the learning is not restricted to the classroom but involves real-life management skills also. You have unlimited resources such as Thompson Reuters terminal, financial databases, a fully integrated library, and much more to delve upon. It makes research more interesting and learning more concrete. It has been 4 months to the course, and I can already see a complete transformation in my personality.
