What made me join ITM Business School: Lokesh Thadani
I belong to a family of businessmen, and since the very beginning I always had the thought of running my own business. I had no interest or intention of opting for PCM, so I went for Commerce as my subject in 11th and 12th. At first learning anything new is difficult, but gradually it became easier and I gained interest in my subjects. I had Accounts as my main subject. The other subjects I studied were Business Management, Statistics, Economics, Hindi and English. Accounts involved a lot of Maths, a subject which everyone is usually scared of, but I got through it very nicely, rather it is my favorite subject. For my under graduation I went to Bhopal School of Social Sciences in Bhopal and chose BCom with Computers. Choosing this developed my interest in Marketing. A few seminars were conducted on marketing, and when I attended them, I wanted to learn more about the subject. For my Post-graduation I joined ITM Business School, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai (Mumbai, Maharashtra), and opted for PGDM in Marketing which turned out to be a great option for me.
How I cracked college admission
Before joining ITM, I did a massive research of lot of colleges. I had also joined a coaching called Career Launcher to crack competitive exams. I appeared for CAT, MAT, and CMAT. Among all the three exams that I had appeared for, I scored the highest in MAT i.e. 97.67 percentile.
I applied for a few colleges and also I started getting calls from them. I aimed for Indus Business School, INDRA, International School of Business and Media, IBS Mumbai & IBS Hyderabad, ITM Business School, and IILM Noida.
I also went through the reviews of ITM and got to know that it is the best college for Marketing. Once I was sure of my decision of joining ITM, I applied to the institute. I had to appear for a GD first followed by a Personal Interview. During the GD, I was asked various questions on current topics. The panelist that took my Personal Interview asked questions about myself, tested my knowledge on technicalities, and gauged my confidence and communication skills. In a week I got a call from the college confirming that I had been selected for the college and I could join the same from first of June. That is how I got ITM as my college for post-graduation.
What I gained from my college experience
I have my classes from 8:30am to 5pm and sometimes till 7pm also, and in between we get a break of 1 hour for lunch. I spend my most of the time studying or in library. Along with studies, various extracurricular activities are also conducted in the college. Marketing is my favorite subject, and the faculty is really great. Along with theories, we also get the opportunity to gain a lot of practical knowledge.
The college conducts many cultural events, and I try to engage myself in most of them. I am also the placement coordinator of my college so I get to interact with numerous Company heads and HRs. After joining this college, I believe that my interpersonal skills, communication and leadership qualities have enhanced.
