My college challenged and tested me various times during my journey which helped me to grow professionally, says Vaibhav
Choosing a stream was a difficult decision in school because of the myriad suggestions and advice by friends and teachers which added to a lot of confusion. Finally, I decided to pursue Commerce because I was interested to learn more about the business topics since I wanted to become an entrepreneur. My graduation degree was aligned with my long-term goals of becoming an entrepreneur and hence I chose BMS (Bachelors in Management Studies). Doing an MBA was a no-brainer for me. I chose VES business school because it is a reputed B-School in MUMBAI along with the fact that it provides a lot of specialisations to choose from. Vivekanand Business School is popular for training its students in the best way possible so that they can do wonders in the field of business.
I was selected in my current college after a rigorous personal interview. The panellist asked me a number of questions and tested my knowledge about the subjects that I had already studied at my graduation. I attempted the CAT and CET entrance tests. I scored 85 percentiles in CAT and 96 percentiles in CET. I got enrolled in IMS coaching classes. My actual plan was to apply for colleges outside of Mumbai since I stay in Mumbai and I wanted to experience life outside of Mumbai at a campus. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 that was not possible. It was at the very end that I decided to change my plans and most of the colleges had closed their admissions. VES had also closed its application. Luckily the deadline got extended which helped me in applying to the college.

Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to attend lectures in college because of the covid pandemic. We have our lectures scheduled online. I won’t be able to get of glimpse of college life again since I am already at the end of my course and the pandemic has not ended yet. I like to attend all classes since each class will help you in learning something new. You will get different perspectives about a topic and you also learn from your classmates. Currently, I am part of the alumni cell and the finance cell of my college and I am also assisting my classmates in case they need any help. I participate in B- school competitions as well. If given a chance I would like to bring more awareness about the environment and social entrepreneurship. I would also like to work as a volunteer in NGO’s. B-schools completely transform you as a person. My college challenged and tested me various times during my journey which helped me to grow professionally. You will also learn skills that are currently required in the industry. Your confidence and presentation skills improve dramatically. With new skills and increased confidence, there will be myriad opportunities waiting for you. You will be presented with unique and amazing opportunities. You can use your skills to transform an industry or you can learn at a tremendous rate and start you own venture. You can help in solving some complex problems in business and society.
My long-term goal is to work in the private equity and venture capital space. After completing my PGDM I would like to work as a financial analyst in an esteemed organisation.
