The best decision of my life: Pooja Mirchandani
I chose Commerce after my 10th. I felt that opting for Commerce stream would offer me a wide range of career opportunities after the completion of class 12th. Also, I was interested in management studies, so taking up Commerce was the best option. I knew Commerce education would help me get exposed to the environment of the business world. It helped me prepare for self-employment and developing entrepreneurial abilities. I knew it would help me understand the importance of applying economic principles while making business decisions. It would teach me to face the market situation and adapt to the present circumstances. Moreover, it would help me to meet the global competition.
Soon after completing my BMS, I wanted to join an institution that would make me corporate ready. VESIM Business School was just the right choice for me because of various reasons like VESIM’s PGDM course is a trimester-based program. Unlike other PGDM programs, the core specialization is taught from the first day. Also, every subject is taught through live projects. I felt this would give me a lot of exposure and help me broaden my horizon.
I had joined IMS coaching classes located in Navi Mumbai for preparation.
Life at VESIM is all that an MBA student can ask for. I attend lectures from morning to noon. I love attending HR and marketing classes. We have experts from the industry as our faculty members who give us a lot of examples and help us develop our skills. Presentations and flip classroom techniques are the most helpful. My presentation-making skills have improved a lot.
We have interactive sessions by members of various committees we are a part of. I am a part of the Career Guidance and Placement Team (CGPT) and Alumni Cell. Here, in these cells, we are given various tasks and responsibilities that need to be fulfilled in a specific period of time. Brainstorming sessions have become a part of our daily routine. Being a part of Alumni Cell, I was given the responsibility of arranging a grand alumni get-together for all the ex-students of the college. I learnt a lot of things during this period.
Also, the CGPT cell teaches us how to maintain college relations with big companies which, in turn, help us with our placements.

VESIM has helped me to give a presentation with confidence. There is nothing more intimidating than raising your hand in front of a room full of 60 classmates who are all razor-sharp and are attempting to say something “worthy” of that room. Besides learning various skills, I learnt how to present a topic to a group of impressive peers. I am learning to be a critical thinker with strategic views on business issues. During our lectures, we are asked to take time to understand circumstances, identify issues, and think strategically and holistically before taking action. This has helped me to think in a broader way and come up with different solutions to a specific problem.
There are high-pressure circumstances in almost every role, however, the business environment is well known for its pressure, pace and level of responsibility. Due to our schedule, we fine-tune our ability to manage high-pressure situations − from working towards deadlines to remaining calm and focussed during exams. We can then transfer these skills into our professional lives and feel confident in our ability to deal with whatever gets thrown our way.
VESIM has helped me in developing my soft skills and boost my confidence as a person. Studying in VESIM has been my best decision so far.
