10 key tips to crack MBA CET 2026 Verbal section
MAH MBA CET 2026 will be conducted by Maharashtra State CET Cell on April 16, 17, 18 and May 9, so it is time to start preparation. In this article, we have shared 10 key tips to crack Verbal section of MBA CET 2026:
1. Understand MBA CET VARC Questions
The VARC section of MAH CET 2026 exam will include English grammar, verbal ability, vocabulary, sentence completion, synonyms, antonyms, cloze test, para jumbles, probable starters, choice of words, phrases, expressions and reading comprehension. Out of 50 questions, 15 are usually passage based. The remaining 35 questions are based on grammar and vocabulary.

2. Make a Focused Plan
If you have a good command over English, you don't need to worry. But in case it is not, then the best approach is to focus on the part which dominates the section i.e. non-RC questions. You can work on English grammar and vocabulary even in a short span of time. Make these two books - Wren & Martin and Word Power Made Easy your best friend. Memorise and revise regularly. There will be less RC questions compared to VA, so it won't harm you much if you attempt them incorrectly or not attempt at all (there is no negative marking in MAH CET).
3. Practice MAH MBA CET Sample Questions
Practice sample questions, past years questions and mock test exercises to gain familiarity viz. vocabulary, word meaning and foreign words. The more RC passages you practice, the better you will get at speed-reading. You will be able to develop the skill of weeding out unnecessary information and focus on facts required to answer questions correctly. Practice at least 30 mock tests in three months. Practice previous year's MAH MBA CET question papers for RC passages. They are the best source for it.

4. Handle RC Passages with Care
One key tip for cracking RC passages of MBA CET is to read the questions first and then the passage. This way, while reading the passage, you’ll be able to note the relevant points. However, keep in mind the fact that reverse reading will be helpful in fact-based passages but not so much in inference based passages. Keep noting important points of the passage on the rough sheet to refer back.
5. Strengthen Vocabulary
Strengthening English vocabulary is easy. You can do it during your study hours or in free time. Always keep a dictionary with you. Whenever you come across a new word, check its meaning and usage. However, just knowing word meaning will not be enough. You need to also understand its usage. In English language, many words are used differently in different context which changes its meaning. It is very likely that you'll come across word meaning questions in MAH MBA CET which may confuse you. Take vocabulary quizzed and solve crossword puzzles.
6. When to Solve VARC Section
If English is your strong area, then you must solve questions from this section first. In MAH CET MBA, there is no sectional time limit and you can choose the order of solving the question paper. So, complete your strong areas first. In all, the VARC questions of MAH CET 2026 should not take more than 30 minutes as the section is usually of easy to moderate difficulty. The RC passages are short and straightforward. So, 30 minutes out of 150 minutes should be enough.
But, if English is not your strong area, keep it for the last. Complete the rest of the MAH MBA CET questions and then start with VARC. Aim to solve 30-40 questions accurately and you should be sorted.

7. Don’t Get Stuck on Any Question
Like any other MBA entrance exam, MAH CET too is a speed based test, thus spending too much time on a particular question is not a good idea. If you are not sure of the answer, skip that question and move ahead. Focus on questions that you can solve accurately. Even though, there is no negative marking in MBA CET, you should not waste time on a question you can’t solve. There is no sectional time limit so the possibility of time wastage is higher.
8. Choose the Right Questions to Solve
Choice of the questions in the MAH MBA CET has a direct bearing on your score. If your English is good, you can solve any question but if it is not, then you need to choose the right questions. Go for straighforward questions on vocabulary, word meaning, fill in the blanks, synonyms-antonyms and idioms.
9. Rule of Elimination
Apply the rule of elimination in fill in the blanks, cloze test, spot the error, etc. The VARC section of MAH CET MBA exam can be handled well with elimination rule by getting five options down to 50-50 choice. Choose the right option between the two, which seems closest to the question/situation.

Logical Reasoning section has 75 questions which are usually moderate but there can be a few questions that can challenge your skills. They can be confusing or time taking. Abstract Reasoning questions are easy, so candidates must target all 25 of them.

MAH CET MBA is a moderately difficult exam, but because it is Reasoning heavy, you will need about 6 months to prepare for it. A lot of practice will be required to master each topic, which is why you should start preparation about 6 months in advance.
