My college prepared me for long working hours: Supreeti Tripathi

Mystory@Supreeti Tripathi

I was a Science student in higher secondary with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subject. I chose Economics as my elective due to my keen interest in it. After completing graduation, I started searching for a college for further studies, an institution that would aid me in growing and offer a never ending learning process. As a student I considered various factors on the basis of which I evaluated various options available to me. These factors included, return on investment, learning opportunities, corporate exposure and internships offered by the college. Taxila Business School, Jaipur, turned out to be the most suitable. The schedule of working from 9 am to midnight to prepare the student to be corporate ready, 3 major internships in both private and public sectors along with frequent live projects to ensure hands on learning, were the major factors that drove me towards Taxila. Faculty members having expertise along with an environment focused on overall growth of the student in all aspects are what I got here at Taxila. Moreover, an excellent placement record strengthened my decision to join Taxila Business School.

How I cracked college admission

Getting admission in Taxila Business School is not a piece of cake. The process is designed to check the overall personality of the student including the communication skills, analytical skills, confidence, learning attitude, self and general awareness. I appeared for CMAT 2016 and scored 99.49 percentile. For CMAT, I prepared on my own without any coaching classes. Apart from Taxila, I applied to Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research, Institute of Finance and International Management, Bengaluru and a few more colleges and got selected in all of them but after weighing pros and cons on the basis of certain parameters, I felt that Taxila suited my needs the most and hence I joined Taxila.

The admission process here consisted of two rounds - interview and a case analysis under controlled environment. The first round of interview was via telephone followed by a personal interview by Mr. Kishore Sharma (Director, Taxila Business School) where I was put to a test. This was followed by a case study to check the level of analytical skills that I possess. Post this my academic background was analysed and I was selected to be a part of Taxila Business School.

How my college changed me as a person

The day at Taxila Business School begins with classes by experts who impart knowledge and share experiences with the students followed by case studies, presentations and regular project work assigned to the students. The students are informed about the module prior to its conduct so that they can come prepared the next day. The classes are highly interactive to ensure maximum learning to the students. Frequent guest lectures are organized in the college to provide insights to the students. There are provisions for various recreational activities in the college like table tennis, carom, in built swimming pool, gymnasium and full day operational cafeteria.

Taxila has driven me towards being a more realistic person and has helped me overcome my weakness. I started believing that time should not be considered a barrier or an excuse; rather, it should be used as one’s strength. I have become comfortable in working for at least 15 hours a day after joining Taxila. Moreover, I have become more confident as a person due to frequent presentations and research and field work along with live projects and internship opportunities. I now have a better understanding of how the corporate world functions and most importantly I have become more aware.

No, CMAT is not compulsory to get admissions into the PGDM course at Taxila Business School. As the institute accepts scores from other entrance examinations too for admissions to PGDM courses. Therefore, CMAT can be considered as one of the accepted entrance exams for admissions to the PGDM course.
