Choose your college wisely not with the aim to get a job: Yash Kumar
Many of us are looking for various sources just to know the journey of people from scratch to success. If you are reading this post, you may really assume that it had been a short story to success. Yes, there are many barriers in our journey but the biggest strength is our positivity, hard work, and of course the most important aspect, self-belief.
I, being a student of 2nd year of PGDM (Finance) from IILM Graduate School of Management, have been seeking a career in research, and thinking for months to attain the goal since I joined the college for this programme. Believe it or not, you would be analysing your skills and searching your areas of interest for many years, and seeking good guidance so that you can also get to know your strengths. But wait, think again, and please stop searching for it via others. Nothing related to you is outside you. You have to rely on this. Whether now or maybe after some time, you will surely think of my post.
Friends, we always think that our strength can be easily highlighted and brought forth by our near and dear ones. But no, this is the hard reality of our life- At every stage of our lives, we and only we have to do all the things by ourselves.
Let me start with the story of my journey which I am adhered to sharing with you all.
I did my graduation from a semi-government college. Then, I joined a college for my post-graduation degree. I will be true to my words; I was not too good at studies, presentations, in writing and spoken English. I was not fluent in English, had low confidence with shaking legs on the stage, and a fear of losing everything in one go. Then, I got a chance to do blogging and to write an article. Also, I got many chances to speak on the stage and gave many presentations. Now, murmuring and shaken legs are not too close to me. I’m far better now than in the previously explained lines. Now, I am more confident, just because of the platform I got. I searched out for my skills and strengths, and tried to overcome my weaknesses. I also did my internship in a research company which was my aim from the starting of my programme.
This story would only be helpful to any of you who feels what I wrote in the last paragraph is matching your own situation. This was the journey I mentioned from scratch to success, in which I inculcated in myself positivity, self-belief, and good interpersonal skills.
The main reason I mentioned the journey is because when we join a college or are searching out for one, we are always in a dilemma why we are there. What actually do we want to do? Are we following the path of success?
Don’t panic when searching for colleges. Don’t seek too much advice because the best advice is within you. You just need to think for a while. That’s it. Choose your college wisely not with the aim to get a job, but with an aim to improve yourself. You will find that whatever programme you are pursuing is a worthy gold coin for you. Stop listening to others, just speak to yourself and do self-analysis, having your own parameters on the basis of your experience. I am sure you won’t need another post to read if you follow yourself instead of others.
I congratulate you in advance for your bright future.
