Loving and living life the VESIM way: Yash Bardia
I did my XI-XII from Bhavan’s Lloyds Vidya Niketan, Wardha. I was a student of PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) Science stream. I was very unsure about my future and wanted to explore different specializations. Hence, I had chosen the Science stream and it turned out to be a great decision. Although I am a PGDM student now, the learnings are still very useful and important.
For my undergrad, I did my B.Com from City Premier College, Nagpur as it is one of the top and most reputed colleges in the city. Currently, I am doing my PGDM from VESIM Business School, Mumbai. The focus on activities like Outbound Programme, the Yuva for Seva initiative, and international dual degree programmes, and the focus on analytics via SAS Partnership are what attracted me towards this college. The faculty members in the college, with their vast teaching experiences, were also one of the major reasons why I got attracted towards VESIM Business School. Plus, VES being one of the reputed trusts was an add-on.
The college provides an in-campus hostel and mess facility which is very convenient for non-Mumbai residents like me.
The entrance exams that I appeared for were MH-CET and MAT. I did not join any coaching classes for these competitive exams and relied solely on self-study and my hard work. I also tried out NL Dalmia, Mumbai and MIT, Pune other than VESIM Business School.
For VESIM Business School, I applied and was selected for the GD & PI round and the best thing was that I did not have to travel from Wardha to Mumbai for the process. They provided me the facility of a Skype interview session which was a very convenient option. The interview consisted of some regular questions and some questions about the basic aptitude and current affairs.
The college timings are really great. The lectures usually start at 9 am and end at around 3 pm. This gives us enough time for other co-curricular activities as well. There are some great faculty members in our college with a vast teaching experience which is very beneficial for us. I like to attend lectures on subjects related to Marketing as I will be taking Marketing as my specialization.
Our college has numerous committees that we can be a part of, like Branding Cell, Student Welfare Cell, Career Guidance and Placement Cell, etc. which keeps us busy with other activities. Our college has 2 major fests viz. Lit Fest and Basic. Basic is an analytics fest in which renowned speakers from all over the world come and have sessions. DataQuest is another event in Basic which is a hackathon competition. We also have an initiative called Yuva for Seva in which the students go and volunteer in NGOs for 2 weeks. We also have a leadership series named VBx Talks which gives us a chance to interact with some great industry people. I am also a part of the social media team of the college which helps me understand the world of social media marketing. Taking part in these events add to your experience and knowledge and is fun.
The culture at VESIM Business School is very unique and allows a very healthy conversation between the students and faculty members. The mentoring sessions with the assigned faculty members are also are very crucial and enlightening for us as we can talk and share anything and everything with the mentors.
Overall, VESIM has led me to believe in myself, opened doors for many opportunities, and given me an experience that I have never had before. I am in love with the VESIM way.
