Students’ clubs at B-schools are essential for learning
Master in Business Administration (MBA) programme is structured in a way that during the course one learns different skills. Certain educational practices also play an important role in the growth of the personality of the students. Employers have a holistic view and want more than just the academic performance on the table. The student-organised B-school clubs help in many ways such as:
Develop your skill set: Students get the opportunity to apply subject knowledge in practical issues. Learning with peers strengthens learning skills and helps building new skills. The clubs are guided by students, so that you have a chance to make choices.
Industry Connect: The clubs are specific subject or area-based and one can meet and interact with industry experts from this field. Students always connect to alumni and build connections and networks with them.
Become more collaborative: Operating in teams is highly effective and good way to learn but often becomes challenging. To accomplish that same purpose, one needs to understand the dynamics of the team and to create cohesion between the members.
Management skills: Being a part of the club in itself requires multi-tasking capabilities. Maintaining balance between academics and club responsibilities in important.
Vinidhan, a students’ club at GIM - Goa Institute of Management (GIM) is a great example where the students can apply their investment and finance knowledge in practical problems. The club members manage real time investment fund. Vinidhan offers the experience of performing investment research and making recommendations. The students are also allowed to manage portfolios. The idea behind this concept is to make students industry ready . Though the learning never stops but having strong basics will help.
MECCA, GIM's advertising club, encourages students to use marketing principles through competitive events. Events such as "Bootcamp-5.0" offer students the opportunity to provide live case study approaches provided by "Yoga Pulp". Students get to frequently connect with Marketing Field individuals and are exposed to new marketing patterns. MECCA is organising WIZBIZ, a corporate quiz and the biggest in India.
