CBSE 10th Exam 2026 Twice - The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) held a webinar today, November 20, 2025, to clarify all doubts and questions students had in their minds regarding the conduct of CBSE Class 10 board exams twice starting this year. The live webinar, streamed to audiences across India and internationally, was inaugurated by CBSE Chairperson Rahul Singh, and targeted stakeholders, including school heads, teachers, students, and parents. The session aimed to clarify the specifics of the upcoming changes, answer questions, and ensure that everyone involved is well-prepared for the transition.
Rahul Singh said that students will have to mandatorily appear for the first set of exams, and can then choose to improve their performance in three subjects (out of math, science, social science, and two language papers) in the second set of exams. He further said that the Board expects a maximum of around 40% of students to appear in the second board exams in each of the main subjects.
Pointing out that the second exam will have a reduced load of evaluation on teachers compared to the first, he said, βIn the first board exam in class 10, the total number of answer books which are evaluated comes to around 1.5 crore, a bit more than that. We donβt expect the evaluation load for the second board exam to exceed 20-30 lakh. We also hope to complete evaluations quickly and deliver the results for the second board exam by June 30, 2026."
He informed that the Board does not want to promote the CBSE 10th Phase 1 exam 2026 as the main event. It does not want to encourage opportunity shopping, meaning that there should not be a system where the child can choose three subjects to appear in the first exam and three subjects to appear in the second exam, which would defeat the purpose of the entire thought. The Chairman said that the first is the main exam, and the child has to demonstrate seriousness in approaching it. Students who do not appear in three or more subjects in the first board exam wonβt be allowed to appear in the second board exam.
After the CBSE 10th Phase result 2026 are declared, students will be able to register for the second exam, and the Board will then finalise the list of students.
