CBSE has directed all the principals and school managements of affiliated-schools to relieve teachers for evaluation of CBSE Class 10 & 12 2026 answer scripts. CBSE will conduct CBSE Class 10 & 12 2026 exams from February 17 onwards.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed all the principals and school managements of affiliated-schools to relieve teachers for evaluation of CBSE Class 10 & 12 2026 answer scripts. The board has also asked the evaluators to follow updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as per the current evaluation scheme while checking the answer scripts.
CBSE has also directed to assign fewer answer scripts per evaluator to allow sufficient time for quality evaluation. The board has prepared planned capacity building programmes for evaluators. They have also prepared short instructional videos for guidance. CBSE has asked to complete the evaluation of answer scripts in 08-10 days (instead of 10-12 days in previous years).
The Boards have asked the principals of its affiliated schools to update the data of Class 10 and 12 teachers in OASIS portal for the purpose of On-Screen Marking (OSM) for CBSE Class 12 2026 exam.
Strict action will be taken against the schools not following the Board’s directives. The results of the school will not be declared.
In its latest notice, CBSE has announced that it will introduce on-screen marking for the evaluation of CBSE Class 12 2026 answer books. The evaluation of class 10 answer sheets will continue in physical mode.
CBSE Class 10 & 12 2026 Date Sheet
CBSE will conduct CBSE Class 10 & 12 2026 exams from February 17 onwards. The exam for Class 10 will conclude on March 11. The exam for Class 12 will conclude on April 10. Approximately 46 lakh students from India and 26 countries will appear in these examinations. The board has asked the schools to upload the practical marks by February 14, 2026.
What is CBSE On-Screen Marking?
To ensure efficiency and transparency, the Board has decided to introduce On-Screen Marking (0SM) for the evaluation of Class 12 answer books. The answer sheets will be evaluated digitally under this process. This will eliminate the errors in totaling of marks. Moreover, post-result verification of marks will no longer be required.
Changes Introduced by CBSE This Year
CBSE has announced the following changes in the pattern of Class 10 and 12 board exams.
- In line with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEР) 2020, СBSE will conduct a second Board Examination for Class 10 for the first time. The exam will be held from May 15 2026.
- Science and Social Science papers have been divided into sections:
- Science: Physics, Chemistry, Biology
- Social Science: History, Geography, Political Science, Economics
- Students will answer section-wise, and evaluation will be done by subject- specific teachers
- On-Screen Marking (OSM) for Class 12 answer books has been introduced for first time
