CBSE Board Exam 2026 Class 10: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an important notification for high school (secondary) students. The CBSE notification on class 10 second board exam has been released at cbse.nic.in. The CBSE class 10 second board exam will commence from the 2026 academic session. The board, addressing the queries from students, teachers, parents and stakeholders, has released guidelines and CBSE class 10 second board exam eligibility criteria on its website.
CBSE Class 10 Board Exam 2026: Mandatory Attendance & "Essential Repeat" Rule
The official CBSE announcement highlights that the first Board examination is mandatory. The CBSE second board exam is not a substitute for the first exam. Students who do not appear for three or more subjects in the first exam will not be allowed to take the second examination. These students will be listed in "Essential Repeat".
CBSE Second Board Exam 2026: Who Can Appear?
The second examination will bring an opportunity for the performance enhancement of students. According to the CBSE guidelines, the following students will be eligible to apply:
- Students who have passed but wish to improve their scores.
- Students who received a "Compartment" result in the first exam.
The Board also clarified that students cannot take "Additional Subjects" after passing Class 10. This decision will reduce student stress by providing a second chance in same year.
