CBSE Open Book Exam 2026-27

CBSE Class 9 Open Book Exams 2026-27: The Central Board of Education (CBSE) has approved a proposal for open book exams from session 2026-27 academic session. The proposal has been followed after a pilot study showing 'teacher support' for such assessments. The CBSE is the highest governing body that approved the proposal at a meeting held in June. The proposal suggests starting open-book exams in Class 9. These will be included in the three written tests held each term and will cover the main subjects like language, mathematics, science, and social science.

As per the media reports, the proposal further states that, as per the National Curriculum Framework 2023 and the National Education Policy 2020, Class 9 students may have open-book exams in mathematics, science, social science and language. The CBSE’s curriculum committee discussed this plan back in November 2023 and approved it the same year.
