CBSE has issued guidelines related to practical exams for the private candidates hailing from Class 12. Read the code of conduct which is expected and must be followed for appearing in the exams here. The Centre Superintendent of the Examination Centre will prepare a list of all students whose practical examinations needs to be conducted.

The CBSE Board Class 12 Practical exams are set to begin from February 23, 2026. In light of this event, the CBSE board has released some important guidelines for the practical exams in respect to the private candidates. The exams will continue to take place till March 17, 2026.

All About the CBSE Class 12 Practical Exams

Candidates will have to appear for the Practical Examinations in the examination centres fixed for theory examinations. Regional Directors/Officers will appoint External Examiners. In case teachers or invigilators are not available in the examination Centre school, teachers from nearby schools will be appointed. The Centre Superintendent of the Examination Centre will prepare a list of all students whose practical examinations need to be conducted.

When will a candidate appear for the exam?

The date and time of the practical examinations shall be fixed keeping in mind the availability of external examiners. Students/Examinees will be informed well in advance about the date and slot in which they have to appear for the exam. On prior information, the candidate must report for the Practical Examination at the Examination Centre on time.

After the Practical Exam Concludes

The centres will upload the marks of the private students whose Practicals have been conducted at the centre. The list of private students allotted at the centre will be visible in the centre/school log-in account.

Who will appear for the Practical exam?

The following category of students is expected to appear for the Class 12 CBSE practical examination. Students belonging to the classes of 2025 and 2024 whose marks for practical subject(s) are not available. Also, the students of 2023 and before, who have applied for full subjects in the Private category, must appear for this exam. In case these students were absent during the practical or theory exams, or for other valid reasons, then they must consider appearing for this attempt.

A:

Yes, CBSE 12th exams 2026 will be based on 100% syllabus. Students can check the CBSE 12th syllabus 2026 by clicking on the link provided. Students must finish with their syllabus and know the exam pattern well at least a month prior to the exam. This way they'll be better prepared for the exams. 

From 2020 to 2022, the Board had reduced the CBSE syllabus in the wake of Covid pandemic.

Yes. Electrostatistics includes two chapters namely Electric Charges & Fields and Electrostatic Potentials & Capacitance. The unit covers topics such as Conservation of charge, Coulomb's law-force between two- point charges, forces between multiple charges; superposition principle and continuous charge distribution, potential difference, electric potential due to a point charge, a dipole and system of charges; equipotential surfaces, etc. Check the table below to know the weightage of the unit in the board exams:
