Practical exams will be held from January 1, 2026 to February 14, 2026.

Central Board of Secondary Education has issued notice regarding marks distribution scheme for upcoming Class 10 and Class 12 Board examinations. The Board has shared detailed notice related to practical examinations, project and internal assessment for both the classes.

The practical examination will be held from January 1, 2026 to February 14, 2026. Students should note that there school teachers assess internal exam for Class 10 and external visitors come for Class 12 assesment.

CBSE in its notice has stated that schools sometimes make mistakes while uploading marks in respect of Practical/Project/Internal Assessment.

The circular mentions maximum marks allotted to each subject is 100 (One Hundred) with marks distribution among theory, practical, project and IA components.

“To aid and assist the schools in smooth conduct of Practical/Project/Internal Assessment and conduct of Theory Examinations, a list of subjects for Classes X and XII containing the following details is annexed with this circular for information with the thought that schools will read this circular and strictly comply instruction and not make a request later on to correct the mistake committed by them by giving various excuses,” CBSE Notice reads.

CBSE has shared marking scheme of all the subjects for which students appear for Class and Class 12 board examination in 2026.

It has details of class, subject code, subject name, maximum marks theory examination, maximum marks practical examination, maximum marks project assessment, maximum marks internal assessment (IA) Whether External Examiner will be appointed for practical/project assessment, whether practical answer-book will be provided by the board and type of answer book that will be used in theory examinations.

Board in its notice has mentioned that it is expected that schools should complete Practical Exam, Project / IA within scheduled time frame to avoid any inconvenience to students at later stages.
