According to the latest circular released by the board, 50 per cent of the MCQs asked in CBSE 10th, 12th Term 1 exams scheduled in November/December 2022 will be competency-based.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to conduct the CBSE 10th, 12thTerm 1 exams in November-December 2021 in offline mode in students’ respective schools. The Term 1 exams will include only multiple choice questions (MCQs) wherein students will be required to mark their answers on an OMR sheet.

According to the latest circular released by the board, 50 per cent of the MCQs to be asked in CBSE 10th, 12th Term 1 exams will be competency-based. Even though the Board had released the CBSE 10th, 12th sample question papers online that provide the exam pattern, the Board clarified that many teachers and students were getting confused about the nature of MCQs to be asked in exam and practicing the wrong type of MCQs. It said that the competency-based questions will be making the task for school teachers for final practice of students a little more difficult.

CBSE Term 1 Exams 2022: Highlights

  • This year, the CBSE Board exams have been divided into 2 terms. Term 1 exams will be conducted in November/December while Term 2 exam will be held in March/April.
  • A student needs to obtain a minimum of 33 per cent marks to qualify the exam.
  • The duration of the CBSE 12th Term 1 exams is 1.5 hours and the timings are 11:30 am till 1:00 pm
  • The duration of CBSE 10th is 90 minutes.
  • The question paper will include only MCQs based questions
  • Students will get 20 minutes extra to read the question paper
