According to the official reports, the decision is taken in order to give effect to the JKBOSE 10th syllabus relaxation.
JKBOSE Board Exams 2021: Jammu and Kashmir Board of Education (JKBOSE) decided to elucidate the pattern to be followed in the question papers for the JKBOSE 10th Board Exams 2021 and JKBOSE 12th Board Exams 2021. According to the official reports, the decision is taken in order to give effect to the JKBOSE 10th syllabus relaxation. JKBOSE formally announced the decision through an official notification released by director academics of the Board, Dr Farooq Ahmed Peer, stating that the students are required to attempt only 60 marks in the question paper, which shall be given 100 marks weightage. "The students shall require to attempt 60% marks only from the given question papers which shall be treated as equivalent to 100% at the time of evaluation. The score of students attempting less than 60% from the question paper shall be raised proportionately. The other conditions notified earlier in this regard shall remain unchanged," the notice reads.
Dr Peer states, " Earlier, a student had to attempt 70 percent marks but not the relaxation has been raised to 40 percent, so the students are required to attempt only 60 percent marks." According to the reports the syllabus relaxation is announced for the students appearing in the ensuing annual regular Class 10, 11, 12 examinations of Kashmir division and winter zone areas of Jammu division.
The notice also reads, "In continuation to this office notification No F(Acad-C)relax/Syllb/X/XI/X11/20 dated 17-08-2020, it is hereby notified for information of all the concerned that the concession/relaxation in syllabus given has been now raised from 30% to 40%, in view of prevailing COVID-19 Pandemic for the students of Classes 10th, 11th and 12th appearing in ensuing Annual (Regular) 2020 Examinations in Kashmir Division/Winter Zone areas of Jammu Division as one time exception." The official information further clarifies that in the subjects consisting of theory and practical components, the concession will apply to only the theory part. The notice reads, "In Physics, Chemistry ad Biology, which have a practical component of 30 marks and theory question paper of 70 marks, the student hall attempt 42 marks in theory, i.e. (60% of 70 marks) only which shall be raised 100% proportionately, i.e. 70 marks at the time of evaluation."
