Maharashtra Government reduces the syllabus by 25 per cent for classes 1 to 12.
The Maharashtra government has announced that it has reduced the syllabus by 25 per cent for the academic year 2020-21. The syllabus has been reduced as a one time measure for the classes 1 to 12 in the state. The syllabus has been reduced considering the reduction in classroom teaching time due to coronavirus outbreak because of which the schools in the state have been kept closed since mid-March. The proposal which was sent by the State Education Amendment and Training Council has been approved by the Maharashtra government. The syllabus reduced will also affect the Maharashtra HSC SSC Board Exams 2021.
As per the information, no question will be asked in the Maharashtra SSC Board Exams 2021 and Maharashtra HSC Board Exams 2021 from the deducted syllabus. It applied to Classes 1 to 9 and 11 too. The Board is planning to complete Maharashtra SSC Syllabus 2021 (Class 10) and Maharashtra HSC Syllabus 2021 (Class 12) on time to help students prepare for their Maharashtra Board Exams 2021.
Varsha Gaikwad, Minister of School Education has announced the news by sharing a tweet from her personal twitter handle. The tweet read, “In view of Covid 19 (Coronavirus) in the state, the State Education Amendment and Training Council had proposed a 25 percent reduction in the syllabus for Classes I to XII of the academic session 2020-21. The state government has approved this proposal.”
This year, other than Maharashtra many other states in the country have reduced the syllabus for the academic year 2020-21. Uttar Pradesh has also reduced the syllabus of students studying in classes 9th to 12th. Haryana has also reduced the syllabus for the same classes, the state Education Minister Kanwar Pal confirmed. This was done by the Haryana government to reduce the mental pressure on students.
CBSE also had reduced the syllabus for classes 9 to 12 for this academic year. The syllabus of CBSE Board was reduced by 30 percent this year in view of the pandemic. Gujarat had also revised the curriculum and was in the process to reduce Classes 9 to 12 syllabus this year. Goa, Punjab and Rajasthan have also announced that it has decided to reduce the syllabus for Classes 9 to 12 for this academic session.
