COVID-19 Impact: IIT-JEE Advanced 2020 not to be conducted in foreign centres due to pandemic

JEE Advanced 2020 - The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi on July 31 announced that the IIT-Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2020 entrance examination will not be conducted in foreign examination centres this year. The decision was taken due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and current restrictions imposed on foreign travel and visa issuance.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the examination date for JEE Advanced 2020 has been continuously postponed by the authorities. However, the JEE Advanced 2020 exam is scheduled to be conducted o September 27. According to the official notification, all eligible candidates currently staying abroad/foreign cities are required to select their preferred choices from the list of exam cities in India for taking JEE (Advanced) 2020.

The application form submission notification for JEE Advanced is not announced yet, however, the registration process is expected to start as soon as the JEE Main 2020 entrance exam is conducted by NTA.

JEE Advanced entrance examination is conducted for the top 2-2.5 lakh rank holders in the JEE Main. The exam is conducted every year by one of the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) namely IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee or Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore under the aegis of the Joint Admission Board (JAB).

The candidates seeking admissions to Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programmes (entry at the class 12th level) in all the 23 IITs, including the Indian School of Mines (ISM) are done based on ranks obtained by candidates in JEE Advanced entrance test.
