For the JEE Advanced 2024 common rank list (CRL), a candidate is required to score at least 8.68 percent of the total marks in each subject and 30.34 percent in aggregate.

The IIT Madras zone leads the tally for JEE Advanced 2024 qualifiers, boasting 11,180 successful candidates. Following closely behind is IIT Delhi, securing the second position with 10,255 qualifiers, while IIT Bombay takes the third spot with 9,480 successful candidates.

This year the cutoff marks across categories have jumped to several digits as expected, and is the highest in the past 7 years, since 2018. This year, there has been an increase of 4479 candidates qualifying for the exam compared to last year. However, there were 2903 fewer registrations received this year than the previous year. Additionally, 172 fewer candidates attempted the paper this year compared to last year.

The marks scored in the following five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate marks of the candidates (and also the cut‐off marks for fulfilling the top 20 percentile criterion).

• Physics
• Chemistry
• Mathematics
• A language
• Any subject other than the above four

This year the aggregate marks for JEE Advanced 2024 were as follows in paper 1 and paper 2:

• Maximum Aggregate Marks: 360 (180 in each of the two papers).
• Maximum Physics Marks: 120 (60 in each of Papers 1 and 2).
• Maximum Chemistry Marks:120 (60 in each of Papers 1 and 2).
• Maximum Mathematics Marks: 120 (60 for each of the two papers).

If the aggregate marks scored by two or more candidates are the same, then the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks:

• Candidates having higher positive marks will be awarded a higher rank. 
• If a tie exists then a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Mathematics.
• If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Physics.
• If there is a tie even after this, candidates will be assigned the same rank.

The Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) is conducted every year for the candidates who wish to be admitted to the BArch programme offered by the IIT Kharagpur, IIT Varanasi and IIT Roorkee. One of the most important eligibility for appearing in the AAT is to qualify JEE Advanced. To be included in the rank list and hence become eligible for IIT admission, candidates must have secured the following marks in the exam. The aggregate marks are calculated as the sum of the marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Candidates have to satisfy the subject-wise as well as the aggregate qualifying marks to be included in a rank list.
