JEE Advanced 2025: Kota Produced Every 4th IIT Student This Year; IIT-Kanpur Study
As per IIT Kanpur's analysis, this year, every fourth student at IIT has done their IIT JEE preparation from Kota. Read details below.
IIT Kanpur conducted JEE Advanced 2025, and according to an analysis by IIT Kanpur, it was found that every fourth aspirant who secured admission to an IIT this year had been preparing in Kota. Additionally, the report highlighted that every second student in the top-100 ranks of JEE Advanced 2025 had prepared in Kota.
PTI revealed the analysis done by IIT Kanpur and also highlighted that this year, the IIT Delhi zone had the highest percentage of students to have qualified the JEE-Advanced and the best rate of admissions to the IITs.
1,87,113 students from all seven zones got registered for JEE Advanced 2025 -- 45,622 students from the Hyderabad zone; 37,002 students from the Bombay zone; and 34,069 students from the Delhi zone. This year, 18,160 seats were on offer, and 18,188 seats were allotted through JoSAA across all 23 IITs. 3,664 IIT seats have been allotted to female candidates, while 14,524 seats were claimed by male candidates. IIT KGP, the oldest among all the 23 IITs, offered the maximum number of seats. 1,919 seats were offered by this IIT.
IITs witnessed a 100% seat allotment rate this year, with IIT Bombay, Delhi and Madras becoming the top choices of the top 100 rankers.
IITs Witnessed General Admission Cutoff of 92 Marks
According to the JEE Report 2025, this year, a candidate achieved admission to an IIT with only 92 marks in the JEE Advanced examination. Notably, in the case of supernumerary seats, a girl candidate from the general category secured admission with only 80 marks. The total marks in JEE Advanced 2025 were 360.
Admissions for reserved categories were granted at even lower marks. In the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category, a boy candidate got a seat with 78 marks, equivalent to 24.67%, while a girl candidate was admitted with 78 marks, which translates to 21.67%. An OBC boy was granted admission with 74 marks (20.55%), and an OBC girl with 66 marks (18.33%).
Among SC candidates, boys were admitted with scores as low as 46 marks (12.78%), while girls were admitted with 43 marks (11.94%). In the ST category, boys secured seats with 41 marks (11.39%), and girls were admitted with a minimum of 37 marks (10.28%).
