IIT Kharagpur BTech Courses & Fees 2026: Selection, Placement, Admission Dates, How to Apply

IIT Kharagpur BTech course admission is a multi-process that students are required to follow to get into the institute. Starting with the application, students are required to go through the course-specific entrance tests, followed by other selection rounds (if applicable).

1: IIT Kharagpur BTech Application Process 2026

To apply for BTech courses, students are required to apply via JEE Main. The process of application for JEE Main consists of three steps: registration, form filling & document uploading followed by payment of application fees. Follow the below steps to fill out the JEE Main application form:

1: Open the Registration for JEE (Main)’ link.

2: Complete the registration form with the needed info followed by clicking on the 'Submit' button.

3: Fill out the detailed application form & upload scanned images & docs.

5: The application form is automatically submitted after the successful payment of application fees.

Before the JEE Main registration process, students must keep the following docs & info ready for a smooth application process:

• 10th & 12th qualifying tests
• Scanned copy of category certificate (if applicable)
• Net banking/credit card/debit card/UPI details for application fee payment, etc

2: Selection Requirement & Release of Merit List

Once the exam results are announced, the counselling body releases the cutoff list.

3: Admission Confirmation

Once all the counselling rounds are over, Students who are offered seats must report to the institute for confirmation of admission.

IITKGP BTech scholarships are offered based on merit and need. Under the Merit-cum-Means scholarship, the institute supports meritorious students by providing them financial aid. As per the scholarship policy, 25% of the students admitted each year to the undergraduate courses are offered financial aid.

Fresh entrant students should have obtained at least 60% marks in aggregate or a grade corresponding to 60% marks in the qualifying examination for JEE Advanced. For subsequent renewals, the student’s performance in the two consecutive semesters of the preceding session, i.e., GPA, as updated after the supplementary/summer quarter examination, must not be lower than 7.
