Before finalising IIT Bombay BTech, candidates must evaluate its course fee against their budget. IITB fee for its BTech programme includes tuition with some one-time payments, and Hostel fee (if applicable), which have to be paid yearly or semester-wise. IIT Bombay BTech fee refund policy is mentioned below:
- Payment deadline: Candidates must pay the semester fees within the 7 working days from their registration date.
- Withdrawal Before the fee payment Deadline
If any candidate withdraw their fee before the deadline for paying semester fees, they will receive a full-refuns of their semester fee, after the deduction of processing fee (INR 5000) and seat acceptance fee.
- Withdrawal After the fee payment deadline
If a candidate withdraw after the semester fee payment deadline, they will only get back their Caution Deposits (Istitute, Library, and Hostel deposits), provided candidates must clear all pending university dues.

The admission process for BTech begins with the release of the JEE Main application form. The entrance test is generally conducted between Jan and Apr in 2 sessions. There are over 1400 seats for the BTech programme at IIT Bombay. The seat allotment is carried out through JoSAA counselling. Seats at the institute are categorised under state and All-India quotas. The various processes involved in JoSAA 2027 counselling are registration, choice filling, seat allocation, and online reporting. Yes, IIT Bombay offers Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to UG students. It is awarded to a maximum of 25% of sanctioned intake. For Dual degree, it is available only up to fourth year.
Merit Criterion: For new entrants of BDes their UCEED Rank, will be the criterion. In subsequent years, the criterion will be their academic performance during the preceding academic year.
Means Criterion: The parental income is the basis for the ‘means' criterion of the scholarship. At present, students with parents annual gross income from all sources for the previous Financial year does not exceed INR 5 Lacs are eligible to apply for Merit cum Means Scholarship.
The institute offers Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to a maximum of 25% of the sanctioned intake of UG and MSc students. Facilities of Free Messing is also available to SC/ ST students under which they get an exemption from paying the tuition fees. In addition, the Office of the Dean Alumni & Corporate Relations manages the Named scholarship endowed by the alumni of the Institute and other wellwishers.
