MCC NEET UG 2025 Counselling Round 2 has started on September 4, 2025, with the registration process. Candidates willing to participate in the second round of NEET 2025 Counselling must register and fill choices for seat allotment.

Originally, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) was scheduled to begin the NEET UG Counselling 2025 on August 21, 2025, which was postponed twice, to August 29, 2025, and then to September 4, 2025. During the MCC NEET UG Counselling 2025 Round 1 also, dates were postponed or extended for as many as seven times, irking candidates. It is hoped that now there will not be any more delays or postponements in the MCC NEET Counselling 2025 Round 2 dates and schedule.

    MCC NEET UG Counselling 2025 Choice Locking Process

    The MCC NEET 2025 choice locking process is given in the steps below:

    • By clicking the Choice Lock Button and confirming the same, the choices could be locked.

    • Choices once locked can’t be unlocked. Therefore, the candidates are advised to exercise choice carefully, as the choices above the allotted choice will be processed in the second round.

    • In case candidates fail to lock choices, choices filled in by the candidate will be automatically locked at 5:00 PM of the last date of locking.

    • On clicking the “Lock Choice” button (active only on notified dates), the submitted choices will be displayed on the screen along with all restrictions, on the choices selected, if applicable.

    • During the locking process, candidates have to enter the password, and then only the system proceeds with the locking of choices.

    • After locking of choices, the following message will be displayed indicating no more choice submissions are possible: “Your Filled Choices have been Locked Successfully. Now you are not allowed to make any modifications to Filled Choices. After taking the printout, press the LOGOUT Button and close all Open Windows related to your session for Security Reasons. Click Below Link to Print Locked Choices.”

    • After locking, candidates can take a printout of locked choices, which includes the locking date and time, IP address of the computer and system-generated Unique Number.

    • After locking the choices, if a candidate logs in again, then the locked choices given by the candidate will be displayed, and the choices cannot be modified or altered.

    Is it necessary to register for each round of MCC NEET Counselling?

    Candidates who have registered in the first round of the MCC NEET UG counselling and have not taken admission in the first round, then they are eligible to participate in the next rounds, even without registering again. However, if a candidate has not registered for the first round but wishes to participate in the second round, then they have to register afresh.

  • Q:   When did the NEET 2025 counselling process begin?
    A:

    The NEET 2025 counselling process began on July 21, 2025. The dates for four rounds have been announced by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), which is scheduled till October 25, 2025. Originally, the last date of counselling was October 3, 2025, which was postponed twice due to NRI/PWD candidate requests, and ongoing court cases.  

    Q:   What is the mode of the NEET counselling process?
    A:

    The NEET counselling process is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) primarily in online mode. All the steps of the counselling process, including the registration, release of seat matrix, choice filling and locking, and release of the seat allotment result. Only the last and final round, which is the institute reporting, has to be done in offline mode. Herein candidates who have been allotted seats have to visit the institutes for document verification and complete the admission process by paying the requisite fee amount. 

    Q:   Is it necessary to join allotted Medical/Dental College of Round 1 to get chance to participate in Round 2 of NEET counselling?
    A:

    No, candidates need not report or join the allotted college of NEET counselling Round 1 since there is free exit. However if they want to retain the Round 1 seat and upgrade in Round 2 they have to physically join the college of Round 1 and give up-gradation willingness for Round 2 at the time of admission. In case candidates decide to resign the seat allotted to them in the first round, then they can do so prior to registering in the next round of NEET counselling.

If a candidate does not lock the choice submitted by him/her, it will be automatically locked as per the schedule.     What is the significance of the MCC NEET Counselling seat matrix?

    The seat matrix for the NEET counselling is important for the choice filling process. Before filling and locking seat choices for each round of NEET counselling, candidates must go through the seat matrix or the seat vacancy and then enter their choices. MCC releases the seat matrix prior to the commencement of the counselling process. This is the overall seat matrix for all four rounds of counselling. Candidates participating in the Round 1 NEET counselling will have to choose from the entire gamut of the seats. From the second round onwards, the seat matrix is released in terms of the newly added seats and the clear and virtual vacancies. With each round of counselling, the number of available seats or the vacant seats reduces.

    There is no limit to the number of choices during the NEET 2025 Counselling Choice Filling process. However, candidates are advised to prepare the list of courses and college choices based on the seat matrix in advance, based on their ranks or scores and the previous year's cutoff of the colleges.

    How to Fill Choices For MCC NEET UG Counselling 2025?

    Candidates have to follow the steps below to complete the NEET 2025 choice filling and locking process. Prior to that, candidates must complete the registration process and pay the requisite fee for registration as per their category.

    • Visit the official website of MCC – mcc.nic.in/ug-medical-counselling
    • Click on the ‘New Registration’ tab and click on ‘Sign in’

    • Enter the NEET UG 2025 Roll Number, Password and Security Pin

    • Click on the link ‘Available Choices’.

    • On clicking the “Choice Filling” icon, the choices as per individual criteria of eligibility would be displayed to the candidate on the left side basket and on clicking the button for the required choice, it will be selected. The seats chosen will be removed from the left basket and added to the right basket.

    • Candidates will have to click on the ‘Save & Continue’ tab.

    • Candidates may change the order of preference of choices by clicking on the Upper Arrow ./button to move up, the Down Arrow button to move down and the Delete button to delete the pre-selected choice of institutes.

    • The choice Interchange (Swapping) could be carried out by selecting appropriate choices as source and destination to enable their swapping and reordering all the choices.

    • If a candidate desires to delete a specific choice or a group of choices, the candidate can click the appropriate box for deletion of the choice. Further, if the candidate desires to delete multiple choices in one go, he/she can click the appropriate boxes for deletion and confirm the same, so that all unwanted choices can be deleted by this operation.

    What is the meaning of Clear Vacancy and Virtual Vacancy for the Seat Matrix of NEET counselling?

    The terms Clear Vacancy and Virtual Vacancy are related to the NEET counselling seat matrix, which is released prior to each round of counselling. Clear Vacancy means empty or unclaimed seats at the end of the institute reporting process, conducted at the end of each round. After the declaration of the seat allotment result, if a candidate exits the seat, then those seats come under the Clear Vacancy category. On the other hand, Virtual Vacancy refers to the seats which are considered to be available if candidates allotted those seats opt for upgradation. In case their seat is not upgraded, then the virtual vacancy will not be applicable anymore.

    MCC NEET Counselling 2025 Round 2 Live: What is the difference between NEET All India counselling and NEET state counselling?

    NEET counselling or the NEET UG All India counselling and the NEET state counselling process are conducted for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other courses. The NEET UG All India counselling is conducted by MCC for the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats. On the other hand, the state NEET counsellings are conducted by the State Authorities, such as the Department of Medical Education (DME) for different states and Union Territories (UTs) for the 85 per cent State Quota (SQ) seats. The timeline and processes may vary for the NEET All India counselling and the state counselling for NEET. In general, there are three to four rounds for both counselling types. In the state counselling for NEET, the authorities release a merit list for registered eligible candidates. But MCC does not release the merit list. The other steps involved in both counselling types are similar, including registration, choice filling, release of seat allotment and institute reporting.

    Yes, medical aspirants can participate in the state as well as the All India NEET counselling processes simultaneously. In general, the dates of the state and the All India NEET counselling rounds will be different.

    Before participating in either of the NEET counselling processes, candidates must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria. For the State NEET counselling processes, candidates must belong to the domicile. Students not belonging to the state may also participate in the particular NEET state counselling, provided they register and participate from the NRI quota.     MCC NEET Counselling 2025 Round 2 Live: AIIMS Mangalgiri removed as PWD Centre

    As per a latest notice by MCC, AIIMS Mangalgiri has been removed from the list of designated PWD verification centres, as the institute is still not fully equipped to provide the required services as a disability certification centre. Hence, PwD candidates are advised not to visit AIIMS Mangalagiri for obtaining Disability Certificates.     NEET 2025 Counselling Advisory for PWBD Candidates

    PwBD candidates participating in NEET UG Counselling 2025 are advised to note the following points w.r.t obtaining Disability Certificate for the purpose of the upcoming NEET UG Counselling, from the designated disability centres of MCC:

    Candidates who wish to claim All India Quota seat under PwBD category are required to visit one of the 16 designated disability centres of MCC (List enclosed) and submit the following documents at the centre to obtain the Disability certificate:
    i. NEET UG 2025 result demonstrating eligibility for the MBBS course.
    ii. Valid UDID card (Yellow or above) issued by the DEPwD (excluding visual disabilities)
    iii. Self-certification form in the prescribed format of NMC.

    iv. Affidavits, specific to the candidate’s disability category, in the prescribed format of NMC.

    The certificate will be generated by the centre as per the details of disability mentioned on the UDID card, affidavit submitted by the PwBD candidate, and fulfilment of eligibility criteria, subject to Board assessment of functional competencies.

    For disabilities other than the one already discussed in respect of Locomotor, Hearing, Visual and SLD/ASD/ Mental Illness, they will have to submit a valid UDID card and the self-certified affidavit prescribed in Appendix A under the category “Others”.

    Only those candidates who have obtained Disability certificate from a designated centre of MCC will be shown choices of PwD seats for All India Quota.

    The disability certificate will be valid for this academic session only.

    Candidates who wish to avail PwBD seat under the 85% State quota can visit the state disability boards for obtaining certificates. However, evaluation has to be conducted by the state disability boards as per NMC Guidelines (2025).

    • The necessary documents will be verified at the time of reporting to the allotted college. Further, colleges will send a copy of the documents submitted by the NRI candidate to MCC, which will be scrutinised by MCC and will be sent to the concerned mission/embassy for verification.

    In case a candidate forgets his/her password, it can be reset by following the procedures given below:

    1. Reset password using a verification code via SMS: Applicant is required to enter NEET-UG Roll No. If the details entered by the applicant match with registered Candidate data, then the system will send a verification code through SMS at the registered mobile no. and the applicant is required to enter the verification code.     MCC has stated, “Candidates will have to report physically at the allotted college to resign their seat. Candidates are advised to ensure that their Resignation Letter is generated online (through portal provided by MCC) by the allotted college, failing which the resignation will be treated as ‘Null & Void’.”

    MCC NEET UG Counselling 2025 Live: Who Can Register in Round 2?

    The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has laid down the following rules for participating in the NEET Counselling 2025 Round 2:

    • Candidates who registered for NEET 2025 Counselling Round-1 and did not get any seat allotted are not required to register again. Also, candidates who have not reported in Round-1 need not register again.
    • Fresh New Registration for MCC NEET UG Counselling 2025 Round- 2 are required for those candidates who have not registered in Round-1 (with full payment of fees).

    MCC NEET UG Counselling Round 2 Live: Can I Pay the Registration Fee through UPI?

    No, there is no provision for candidates to pay the MCC NEET Counselling registration fee in UPI mode. Candidates have to pay the fee only through Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking.
