NEET 2025 exam is being held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 2 PM to 5 PM. The exam is being conducted in 566 cities across India and abroad. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), NEET 2025 will be a paper-pencil-based test for admission to MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, and other allied medical courses.

    NEET 2025 Exam Concludes

    The NEET 2025 exam concludes at 5 PM, three hours after the beginning of the exam. Candidates are asked to stop writing on the question booklet and submit it to the invigilator.

    NEET 2025 Exam Begins

    The NEET 2025 exam begins at 2 PM as per Indian Standard Time (IST) in over 5,000 exam centres located in 552 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. 

  • Q:   What is the minimum NEET score required to get an MBBS seat?
    A:

    According to last year's NEET cutoff marks, a General or OBC category candidate should secure at least 500 marks to get an MBBS seat at a standard medical college in India. However, for a reserved category candidate, a score of 300 to 400 may get them an MBBS seat. Students must note that the minimum NEET score mentioned here is indicatie and not absolute. The minimum marks or the NEET cutoff marks will vary based on the qualifying cutoff, number of seats, number of aplications, andother factors. Candidates with a relatively low score must be patient and participate in multiple rounds of counselling untill they get the seat of their choice. Candidates may also participate in both national as well as state-level counsellings to expand their chances of admission.

    A:

    NEET or the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test involves various stages or events. The dates for each event have been announced by the exam conducting body, National Testing Agency (NTA), in advance.     A:

    The NEET 2025 exam was conducted on May 4, 2025, from 2 PM to 5 PM. NTA announced the exam date through an official notice along with the application form on February 7, 2025.

    NTA Issues NEET 2025 Paper Leak Rumour Alert Ahead of Exam

    The agency has assured students and the stakeholders that preparations and logistical arrangements have been made in order to conduct the examination fairly and avoid the NEET UG 2025 paper leak case. Besides, after flagging around 1,500 suspicious NEET-UG paper leak claims, NTA has also warned that anyone found guilty of adopting any unfair means will face stringent penalties as per the Prevention of Unfair Means Act.

    Candidates are permitted to carry the following items and documents inside the exam hall:

    a) A personal transparent water bottle.
    b) Additional photograph, same as uploaded on Application Form, to be pasted on the Attendance Sheet.
    c) Admit Card along with Self Declaration (Undertaking) with a Postcard size photograph affixed on the designated space downloaded from the NTA website (a clear printout on A4 size paper), duly filled in

    26 MBBS Students Suspended for Malpractice in Last Year's NEET

    The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and NTA have issued a notice for the immediate suspension of 26 MBBS students found guilty in the NEET UG 2024 paper leak case. Besides, admission of 14 students involved in adopting unfair means for admission has also been cancelled by the authorities.

    NEET 2025 Exam Day Instructions

    The following instructions must be followed during the NEET 2025 exam day.

    1. The candidate must reach the Centre well in advance by 11:00 AM.
    2. No candidate shall be permitted to enter the Centre after the Gate Closing Time (01:30 PM).
    3. No candidate shall be permitted to leave the Examination Room/Hall before the end of the examination
    4. Candidates are advised to verify the location of the examination venue at least a day in advance so that they do not face any problems on the day of the examination.
    5. Candidates are advised to bring the updated copy of their Aadhaar Card to the centre.
    6. Candidates will be permitted to carry only the following items with them into the examination venue:
      a) A personal transparent water bottle.
      b) Additional photograph same as uploaded on Application Form, to be pasted on Attendance Sheet.
      c) Admit Card (to be issued separately) along with Self Declaration (Undertaking) with Postcard size photograph affixed on the designated space downloaded from the NTA website (a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in
      d) PwD Certificate and Scribe-related documents, if applicable.
    7. Candidates are NOT allowed to carry any personal belongings, including electronic devices, mobile phones, and other banned/ prohibited items listed in the Information Bulletin to the Examination Centre. Examination Officials will not be responsible for the safekeeping of personal belongings, and there will be no facility at the centre to keep the belongings.
    8. All candidates shall be under CCTV surveillance during the examination.

    What if I forget to carry NEET 2025 admit card to the exam centre?

    If a candidate forgets to carry the NEET admit card 2025, he/she will not be allowed entry inside the exam hall. In such a situation, candidates can ask their family/acquaintances to bring the admit card to the centre if time permits. Otherwise, they can take a printout from a nearby shop or cybercafe, or request the test centre officials to take the printout of the admit card of NEET 2025.

    List of Photo Identity Cards Accepted at NEET Exam Centres

    The following photo identity cards or identity proofs will be accepted at the NEET 2025 exam centres:

    • Voter ID Card
    • Aadhaar Card
    • Passport
    • Driving License
    • PAN Card
    • Ration Card
    • Class 12 Admit Card with photograph
    • PwBD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming the relaxation under the PwBD category.

    Regarding the frisking of the female candidates at the NEET 2025 exam centres, NTA has said, "NTA believes in the sanctity and fairness of conducting the examination, however, it also believes in the sensitivity involved in frisking (girl) candidates and will issue comprehensive instructions accordingly to the staff and other officials at the Examination Centres. The frisking of the female candidates will be done inside a closed enclosure by female staff only."

    Things to Avoid on NEET 2025 Exam Day

    Candidates should refrain from doing the following on the NEET 2025 exam day:

    • Do not sign on the admit card in the absence of the invigilators. 
    • Do not carry any barred items as specified on the admit card or in the NEET 2025 information bulletin. 
    • Do not get carried away by what others are doing.
    • Do not engage in any conversation with the other students seated in the examination hall.
    • Do not take any seat which is not assigned to your roll number.
    • Do not waste your time on a question if you do not know the answer. Skip to the next question and come back to the difficult ones after you have completed all the other questions.

    NEET 2025 Exam Day Advisory

    Candidates are advised to follow the instructions given below on the day of the exam:

    • Visit the NEET 2025 exam centre a day before the examination. This will save time on the day of the examination.
    • Follow the NEET dress code on the day of the examination. Not following the dress code may lead to losing time.
    • Try to reach the exam centre at least an hour before the exam starts. Reaching the exam centre late may cause chaos and confusion.
    • Check the pen provided to you on the exam day before the exam starts.

    NEET 2025 Marking System

    NEET 2025 Dress Code Exceptions

    Candidates who will not be able to follow the dress code for NEET 2025 due to religious beliefs have to mention the same while filling the application form for NEET 2025. Such candidates had to select the 'Customary Dress' option while filling the NEET application form 2025. Those opting to wear the customary dress have to report at least an hour early for proper frisking and security procedures.     Female candidates have to follow the following guidelines regarding the NEET 2025 dress code on the exam day:

    • Similar to the dress code of NEET for male candidates, female candidates are also advised to wear half-sleeved t-shirts/shirts/kurta
    • Long-sleeved and fancy-sleeved clothing is not permitted
    • Clothing should be simple and devoid of elaborate embroidery, buttons, frills, etc.
    • Metallic/non-metallic jewellery is not permitted

    • Candidates are advised to wear open sandals or slippers

    For male candidates appearing for NEET 2025, NTA has stated the following guidelines regarding dress code:

    • According to the dress code of NEET for male aspirants, long or full-sleeve shirts/t-shirts are not allowed
    • Clothes should be simple and should not have zips, pockets, huge buttons, etc.
    • Male aspirants can wear simple trousers/pants without pockets
    • Layers of clothing and kurta pyjamas should also be avoided
    • Shoes, boots, or any covered footwear are not allowed. Candidates are advised to wear slippers or open-toed sandals

    NEET 2025 Dress Code

    NTA has provided the following dress code guidelines for the NEET 2025 exam day.

    • Candidates must be dressed casually and avoid clothes with long sleeves.
    • Shoes/boots, etc., will not be permitted. Candidates must instead wear slippers, open-toed sandals with low heels, etc.
    • Candidates in customary dress must report to the exam centre by 12:30 pm. It was also mandatory for such candidates to have provided this information while filling the NEET 2025 application form.
    • Candidates who are unwell and may need to deviate from the dress code of NEET 2025 must take prior permission from the NTA.

    No, candidates will not be provided blank sheets for rough work at the NEET 2025 exam centre. They will have to do rough work on the space provided at the test booklet.

    Will Candidates be Allowed to Take Bio-breaks?

    Yes, candidates will be allowed to take bio-breaks, but not in the first hour and in the last half an hour of the exam, i.e. from 2 PM to 3 PM, and from 4.30 PM to 5 PM. They are advised to visit the restroom of the NEET 2025 exam centre before taking their designated seats at the exam hall.

    NEET 2025 Guidelines After the examination

    After submitting the answer sheets, candidates need to maintain proper discipline and decorum and follow the instructions below while leaving the centre.

    • Candidates must remain seated and wait for instructions from the invigilator
    • During the exit, invigilators will allow candidates to leave the hall one at a time
    • Candidates will have to hand over the duly filed admit card and the OMR sheet to the invigilator on their way out
    • Candidates must dispose of their masks and gloves outside the examination centre, pedal push bins will be provided for the same.

    Safety Measures in Place at the NEET 2025 Exam Centre

    The exam authorities will follow the steps given below to ensure the maintenance of safety measures and security protocols at the exam centres, especially to avoid unfair means.

    • The NEET 2025 exam hall will be under surveillance through CCTV cameras and equipped with jammers.
    • Candidates will be frisked with handheld metal detectors and biometric checks.
    • Candidates will not be allowed to take bio-breaks in the first one hour and last half an hour. Invigilators may frisk them physically and biometric attendance will be taken after returning from bio-breaks. 
    • NTA uses AI-based real-time analytical tools and technologies to map likely or potential use of unair means.

    List of Barred Items at NEET 2025 Exam Centre

    Candidates appearing for the examination must ensure that they do not have any of the following items with them on the exam day.

    • Stationery items such as test-based material (written/printed), papers, notes, Pencil box, pouches, geometry box, pen, scale/ruler, eraser, etc.
    • Electronic devices such as calculators, cameras, electronic pens, scanners, etc.
    • Accessories such as bags, belts, caps, goggles, wallets, etc.
    • Devices used for communication such as mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth, fitness bands, earphones, pagers, etc.
    • Any ornaments (both metallic/non-metallic) such as earrings, nose pins, piercings, etc.
    • Eatables (packed or home-cooked), thermos, etc.
    • Candidates who are suffering from Diabetes can carry sugar tablets, fruits (such as bananas, apples, oranges, etc.) and a transparent water bottle. However, such candidates must have filled in the required information in their NEET 2025 application form.

    NEET 2025 Exam Day Instructions Regarding Admit Card

    Candidates are advised to follow the instructions below regarding NEET 2025 admit card:

    1. He/she must take out a coloured printout of the NEET 2025 admit card
    2. A recent postcard-sized photograph (4”x6”) has to be pasted in the space provided
    3. A recent passport-sized photograph (same as uploaded on the NEET 2025 application form)
    4. Left-hand thumb impression has to be put in the designated space
    5. All three pages have to be printed
    6. They should not sign on the NEET 2024 admit card in the absence of invigilators, or they would be disqualified on the exam day.

    The total number of NEET 2025 questions is 180. In order to qualify for the exam, candidates should attempt at least 90 to 100 questions accurately.

    Is there a section-wise timing for NEET 2025?

    No, there is no sectional time limit to solve the NEET 2025 question paper. The total duration of the exam is 180 minutes or three hours. Hence, on average, test-takers will get one hour for each section, which they must use judiciously.

    Additional Time for PWD or PWBD Candidates

    An additional time of 20 minutes per hour will be provided for PWD or PWBD candidates. Accordingly, candidates with benchmark disabilities will be provided compensatory time of one hour.

    2. No candidate shall be permitted to enter the Centre after the Gate Closing Time (01:30 PM).
    3. No candidate shall be permitted to leave the Examination Room/Hall before the end of the examination
    4. Candidates are advised to verify the location of the examination venue at least a day in advance so that they do not face any problems on the day ofthe  examination.
    5. Candidates are advised to bring the updated copy of their Aadhaar Card to the centre.
    6. Candidates will be permitted to carry only the following items with them into the examination venue:
      a) A personal transparent water bottle.
      b) Additional photograph same as uploaded on Application Form, to be pasted on the Attendance Sheet.
      c) Admit Card (to be issued separately) along with Self Declaration (Undertaking) with a Postcard size photograph affixed on the designated space downloaded from the NTA website (a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in
      d) PwD Certificate and Scribe-related documents, if applicable.
    7. Candidates are NOT allowed to carry any personal belongings, including electronic devices, mobile phones, and other banned/ prohibited items listed in the Information Bulletin to the Examination Centre. Examination Officials will not be responsible for the safekeeping of personal belongings, and there will be no facility at the centre to keep the belongings.
    8. All candidates shall be under CCTV surveillance during the examination.

    In case you sign your NEET 2025 admit card in advance, you must discard the printout immediately and take fresh printouts. In case you realise the mistake after reaching the NEET 2025 exam centre, you should seek a nearby place to take a printout, or permission of the exam centre officials to get a printout from the institute's office. Hence, it is advised to read the instructions carefully and take multiple printouts.

    NTA Launches Platform to Report Discrepancies Against NEET 2025

    The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced a dedicated platform for candidates to report suspicious claims, aiming to ensure a fair and transparent examination process. The initiative has been taken as a response to last year's NEET question paper leak and other controversies. The platform, accessible at https://t.co/IqF6r9nnke, allows candidates to report three types of suspicious activities: unauthorised website activities, social media accounts claiming access to the NEET UG 2025 paper, and impersonation or fake officials. The reporting window remains open until 5:00 PM IST on May 4, 2025, aligning with the exam date to ensure prompt action.

    Major Changes Introduced in NEET 2025

    This year, several new changes have been introduced in NEET 2025. The major changes are listed below:

    • Change in exam pattern: The NEET 2025 exam pattern has been reverted to that of the pre-COVID era. The optional questions have been removed, and the duration has been reduced by 20 minutes.
    • NEET 2025 official website URL: The NEET 2025 official website address has changed. Last year, the NEET official website URL was neet.ntaonline.in, and this year, it is neet.nta.nic.in. Incidentally, this year's URL is the same as that of the previous year, i.e. NEET 2023. 
    • Implementation of APAAR ID: This year, NTA has implemented APAAR ID to the application process, wherein, if a candidate selects APAAR, then his/her past academic records are auto-populated to the NEET 2025 application form. 
    • Number and choice of NEET 2025 exam cities: The total number of NEET 2025 exam cities in India has been reduced from 557 to 552. On the other hand, candidates can select three instead of two exam cities.
    • Change in Tie-Breaking Policy: There has been a change in the last criterion of the NEET 2025 tie-breaking policy. It says that in case, the first seven criteria are exhausted and the tie still persists, it will be resolved through a random process with the guidance of an independent expert committee.

    What is NEET Pass/Qualifying Marks

    The NEET pass marks or the NEET qualification marks refer to the minimum marks or percentile one has to secure to be able to be eligible for the NEET counselling rounds. While NTA has fixed the NEET qualifying or pass percentile for each candidate category, the marks are variable for each year and category and would depend on the candidates' performance.     How to Fill NEET 2025 OMR Sheet

    NTA has suggested the following guidelines for filling the NEET OMR sheet:

    • Answers have to be marked using a ballpoint pen, which will be provided in the examination hall
    • Changing answers on the OMR sheet is not allowed
    • Erasing/ obliterating any information printed on the OMR sheet is a punishable offence
    • Rough work should be done on the test booklet only
    • A Candidate must not forget to mark the test booklet code on the OMR sheet
    • Candidates must ensure that the NEET question paper code matches that of the OMR sheet.

    NEET 2025 Mode of Exam

    The NEET 2025 exam will be conducted in paper-pencil-based mode, wherein candidates will be handed the NEET 2025 question papers and they have to mark the correct answer options on the OMR sheet. They have to do the rough work on the space provided on the question paper booklet. Although the NTA Expert Committee had recommended conducting the exam in a computer-based mode, but the National Medical Commission (NMC) decided to stick to the existing mode of exam.  NTA has stated, "As decided by National Medical Commission, it is informed that the NEET (UG) 2025 shall be conducted in Pen and Paper mode (OMR based) in Single day and Single Shift.”

    Why Did NTA Change The NEET 2025 Exam Pattern?

    Stating the reason for changing the NEET 2025 exam pattern, NTA has stated, “Aspirants are hereby informed that the question paper pattern and examination duration will revert to the pre-COVID format. where there will not be any Section B anymore. Hence, there will be a total of 180 compulsory questions (45 questions each in Physics and Chemistry and 90 in Biology) which will be attempted by the candidates in 180 minutes, thereby removing any optional questions and extra time introduced due to COVID.”

    Changes Introduced in NEET 2025 Exam Pattern

    Here is an overview of the changes introduced in the NEET exam pattern and structure 2025, which reverted to the pattern and structure of pre-pandemic times. 
    • Removal of Optional Questions: Till last year, there were 20 optional questions, five in each subject. This year, the optional questions have been removed, making all 180 questions compulsory to attempt. 
    • Reduction in Duration: The total duration of the NEET exam till last year was 200 minutes or three hours and 20 minutes. Now the extra time of 20 minutes has been removed, making the total duration to be three hours or 180 minutes. 
    • Removal of Sectional Bifurcation: Each subject was divided into two sections, Section A and Section B, till last year. While Section A carried 35 questions, Section B had 15 questions, out of which five were optional questions in Section B. This year, there is no sectional bifurcation, and each subject carries a single section of 45 compulsory questions.
