NEET PG 2024: RTI Reveals INR 75 Crore Collected in Exam Fees, Yet NBEMS Falls Short on Facilities

Dr Aman Kaushik, a NEET PG aspirant filed an RTI application seeking details on the total examination fees collected in the NEET PG 2024 exam by NBE.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has collected INR 75 crore in exam fees for NEET-PG 2024, according to a response to a Right to Information (RTI) application. Dr. Aman Kaushik, a NEET PG aspirant, submitted an application to NBEMS requesting details on the total examination fees collected from all candidates who applied for the NEET PG 2024. Along with the total amount collected by NBEMS, the aspirant also wanted to know the total amount spent to conduct the examination.
NBE, in response to the RTI filed, affirmed that a total of INR 75 crore was collected as NEET PG 2024 exam fees. However, the authorities did not disclose the amount spent on conducting the exam, stating that expenses are recorded when the invoice is received in the accounts department, rather than when the services are rendered, as reported by Medical Dialogues.
"The total fee collected from NEE PG 2024 is INR 75,00,00,000/- approx. Further, it is stated that we are following the cash-based Accounting system in which expenses are booked at the time the invoice is received for payment in the A/c department rather than when the services are provided," NBE notified.
The NEET PG aspirant further said that despite collecting high fees, NBEMS failed to provide centres in several cities. Many candidates had to visit different cities for the examination and a heavy travelling cost had to bear by them.
