The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) recently announced that NEET PG 2025 will be held in two shifts on June 15, 2025. However, the decision has been met with strong opposition from aspirants

With the exam scheduled to be conducted in two shifts on June 15, 2025, aspirants fear variations in difficulty levels

Member of Parliament Kodikunnil Suresh has formally urged the Lok Sabha to hold an urgent discussion on NEET PG 2025, citing concerns over transparency and fairness in the examination process. In a letter to the Secretary-General of Lok Sabha, the MP highlighted issues related to the two-shift exam format, lack of a predefined normalization formula, and the non-disclosure of answer keys, all of which have raised serious apprehensions among medical aspirants.

FMGs Association Thanks MP for Addressing NEET PG 2025 Issues

The All Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) Association has expressed gratitude to MP Kodikunnil Suresh for bringing attention to these concerns in Parliament. The association emphasized that fairness and transparency in high-stakes exams like NEET PG are non-negotiable and reiterated their demand for a single-shift exam to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants.

Key Concerns Highlighted in MP's Letter

Lack of Clarity on Normalization Criteria: With the exam scheduled to be conducted in two shifts on June 15, 2025, aspirants fear variations in difficulty levels may impact rankings. The absence of a predefined and transparent normalization formula has raised concerns of potential bias and inconsistency.

Non-Disclosure of Answer Keys: Unlike NEET UG, NEET PG does not include the release of answer keys, preventing candidates from verifying their responses. This lack of transparency has led to doubts over the evaluation process and final rankings.

Unclear Service PG Score Criteria: Many aspirants from service backgrounds are facing confusion regarding the calculation of Service PG scores, including bonus marks and eligibility conditions. The absence of a well-defined framework has resulted in anxiety among candidates.

The MP emphasized that immediate government intervention is necessary to ensure fairness in medical admissions and safeguard the careers of thousands of medical graduates.

NEET PG 2025: Exam Format Sparks Widespread Concern

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) recently announced that NEET PG 2025 will be held in two shifts on June 15, 2025. However, the decision has been met with strong opposition from aspirants who argue that score normalization cannot fully eliminate disparities arising from different difficulty levels.

Q:   Has NBE released NEET PG 2025 date notification?
A:

Yes. NBE has released official notification for NEET PG 2025 exam date (revised). The exam will be held on August 3, 2025. The exam will be held in single shift. NEET PG 2025 was earlier scheduled for June 15 but it was postponed after Supreme Court's intervention. SC directed NBE to make arrangements to conduct NEET PG 2025 in single shift.

Q:   Will NEET PG 2025 exam held in pen and paper mode?
A:

No. NEET PG 2025 exam was held in online mode on August 3, 2025. NEET PG question paper 2025 had 200 multiple choice questions and candidates were provided 3.5 hours to answer them. Candidates have to score the minimum cut off to qualify for the exam. Qualifying cut off differ for each category. NBE will declare NEET PG 2025 result online.

Q:   Will NBE provide final correction window for NEET PG?
A:

Yes. NBE will open final correction window for NEET PG. Candidates can rectify incorrect images uploaded along with NEET PG application form. It must be noted the correction window is opened to rectify incorrect images in the application form. Candidates have to login and rectify images such as photograph, signature, and thumb impression. It is the final opportunity to make changes in NEET PG application form.

The FMGs Association had earlier raised these concerns on social media, stating, "Conducting NEET PG in two shifts raises serious concerns about fairness and transparency. Normalization of scores can never fully account for varying difficulty levels, leaving aspirants at a disadvantage. A single-shift exam ensures equal opportunity for all."

The group also pointed out that in past years, NEET PG was efficiently conducted in a single shift, and the shift to a two-session exam is an unnecessary disruption.

NEET PG 2024 Delays Fuel Aspirants' Anxiety

Adding to the uncertainty, delays in NEET PG 2024 counselling have intensified anxiety among medical graduates. The 2024 exam witnessed multiple reschedulings, with last-minute cancellations and postponements creating major disruptions. Counselling for NEET PG 2024 remains incomplete, raising concerns that similar delays could impact NEET PG 2025 as well. With growing demands for a single-shift NEET PG 2025 and calls for transparency in the examination process, aspirants are now looking toward the government and NBEMS for a response to these pressing concerns.
