CUET PG is a national-level examination conducted by the NTA for admission to postgraduate programs in 191 participating universities across India.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) has submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor, urging the university to withdraw from the Common University Entrance Test Postgraduate (CUET PG) 2025 and reinstate the Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination (JNUEE) for all programs, from undergraduate to PhD levels.
The students' body expressed strong objections to the recent fee hike in the CUET PG 2025 application process, arguing that it disproportionately affects candidates from marginalized backgrounds. According to the memorandum, the application fee has increased across all categories:
UR category: ₹1,200 to ₹1,400
OBC: ₹1,000 to ₹1,200
SC/ST/Third Gender: ₹900 to ₹1,100
PwD: ₹800 to ₹1,000
JNUSU argued that the fee hike contradicts the original objective of CUET, which was introduced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to centralize and simplify university admissions, and to reduce financial strain on students who previously paid for multiple entrance exams.
"Such hikes are a barrier to higher education for students from vulnerable and economically disadvantaged backgrounds," the statement read. It also criticized the NTA for being "incompetent and corrupt" and reiterated the demand for JNU to withdraw from CUET and resume independent entrance exams through JNUEE.
CUET PG: A Key National-Level Exam
CUET PG is a national-level examination conducted by the NTA for admission to postgraduate programs in 191 participating universities across India. This includes 41 Central Universities, 41 State Government Universities, 15 Government Institutions, and 94 other institutions (Private and Deemed Universities) .
Prominent universities admitting students through CUET PG include:
University of Delhi (DU)
Banaras Hindu University (BHU)
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU)
University of Hyderabad
Tezpur University
Central University of Gujarat
Pondicherry University
Despite its national scope, the exam has faced criticism over normalization practices, accessibility, and logistical challenges—particularly for PhD aspirants and those from rural areas.
JNUSU cited the University of Hyderabad as an example, which opted to conduct its own PhD entrance examinations to avoid the financial burden of centralized tests. The student union urged JNU to follow suit and take back control of its admission process across all levels.
Delhi University has not released the MSc course wise cut off for the academic session . However, candidates can go through the table below for the expected good score in CUET PG examination in order to get the seat in the MSc courses offered by DU.

JNU Delhi does not accept the Central University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) for admission to the BTech courses. To be eligible for JNU BTech admission, candidates must have a valid JEE Main score. The final selection is based on JoSAA counselling process. The JoSAA counselling is usually held in the month of September. This year, there will be six rounds of seat allotment.
"The time has come for JNU to withdraw entirely from CUET and the NTA-run system," said JNUSU, adding that reinstating JNUEE would be a financially viable and more inclusive approach to admissions.
The students' body has asked the administration to act immediately and begin the process of conducting JNUEE for the next academic year.
