The UPSC IAS Exam 2020 scheduled to be conducted on May 31 is likely to postpone due to the coronavirus pandemic across the nation. The Honourable Minister of State for the Ministry of Personnel/Department of Personnel & Training, Dr Jitendra Singh said while giving an interview to the DD News that we need to postpone the UPSC IAS prelims 2020 exam to accommodate all the concerns of the candidates and the state administrations. The UPSC will decide and declare the new dates for the UPSC IAS 2020 prelims exam after May 3.

He also stated that appropriate time will be provided to the candidates for their travelling reservations and dwelling arrangements for the IAS prelims exam 2020. Minister also said that UPSC is not ready to conduct the IAS prelims 2020 exam online because of the large number of applicants. The UPSC require time to make preparations for the postponed notifications and exams.

Earlier the UPSC had also postponed the IAS interviews 2019, CAPF 2020 notification and UPSC CMS notification 2020. The new dates for all the UPSC exams and UPSC notifications will be decided after May 3 when the lockdown 2.0 will end.

Meanwhile, there were demands from every quarter to postpone the UPSC IAS 2020 exam because of the coronavirus pandemic in the country. The candidates are suggested to strengthen their IAS preparation in this lockdown and ensure their selection in the IAS prelims exam.

The remaining IAS interviews of 2019 were postponed to a future date because of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a big issue because the IAS interview will be followed by the medical examination conducted by the medical board in the designated hospital. This will be a difficult situation when all the hospitals are reeling under pressure due to Covid-19 infections.
