Shivaji College

This is the first article I am writing for Shiksha and I am very excited to share my school and college experiences with all the readers.

I studied in DPS, Farakka and DPS, Dadri. My schools have given me more than I actually deserved. I am thankful to all my teachers for guiding me towards the most correct path ever. I scored 10 CGPA in class 10th and was extremely happy and overwhelmed with the results. But no sooner did I realize that this is not it. I was still growing up and was not mature enough to understand and make a choice for my future. But yes, I did aspire to become a doctor and chose that as my profession. I studied science (PCB) in 11th and 12th, and scored good marks.

Then, the actual fight started. I was not a very meritorious student. I scored well enough, though. I was poor at Maths and yes, lengthy calculations made it easier for me to hate Maths more. People said Physics had nothing to do with Maths, to which I strongly disagree. Soon I realized that I wasn’t good at Physics either. Neither was Botany appealing to me. I remember, I felt somnolent when it came to Botany and was afraid of Physics. The only subjects I loved were Zoology and Chemistry, and no doubt, I was good at those. My family spent a lot of money, energy and time on me for my coaching for medical, books, etc. which I couldn’t utilize well. I didn’t clear MBBS in the first attempt. I joined Zoology Honours course at Delhi University after a discussion with my parents that it would not be right to sit idle for a year. I was in a dilemma. I didn’t like going to college or studying all those subjects. I still aspired to be a doctor. Eventually, I left my college and prepared for another year, but couldn’t clear it this time either. This time, I lost my confidence and decided to do what I was doing earlier- to get admitted in Delhi University. Now, again, I wanted to get Zoology Honours, but you need to see my fate here. Guess what, I got admitted in Botany Honours! Yes, the subject that was the most repellent, boring, sleep-inducing to me. But this time, I got admitted to Shivaji College, the college that gave me every single thing I needed. It gave me the best of everything- best faculty, best activities, best fests, best time, best projects, best staff and, above all, my best friends.
