Aeronautical Engineering

Aerospace and automotive are two major manufacturing industries - also old industries born over a century ago; they have drastically evolved in the past 30 years in terms of product performance, leveraging high technologies and significantly reducing time-to-market. Both industries rely on rigorous quality requirements, advanced materials, electronics and embedded systems, mechanical components, engines, structures, (.) as well as robust New Product Introduction (NPI) and enabling Product Life-cycle Management (PLM).
Aerospace is a generic term that includes commercial aircraft, planes and helicopters, military and defence, ground equipment and space.
The aerospace industry has a strong certification and compliance requirement, with consequences on development cost and technology solutions. The automotive industry requires perhaps less formal processes, though there is a significant focus on compliance and regulations.
Overall both have a great scope in varied sector domains.

Marine engineering is a branch of engineering which deals with boats, ships, oil rigs and any other marine vessel or structure, but also encompasses oceanographic engineering. It is niche branch with high paying salaries but full of challenges to have work life balance. Job opportunities for Marine engineering graduates are in shipping and ship build industry.
Aeronautical Engineering also is a niche which prepares students for designing and building aircraft and spacecraft. Aeronautical engineers handle design, manufacturing and maintenance of aircraft, helicopters & UAV. There are lots of good career opportunities on completion of Aeronautical engineering. You can join DRDO/ ISRO/ Aviation manufacturing or its ancillary units/ Airlines/ Air Force/ Educational Institutes/ R&D Units/ IT, etc.
Both the branches are equally good. You must choose a branch based on your interest to succeed in the professional life. Marine jobs are full of challenges, therefore, you are advised to choose this profession if you are ready to accept its challenges willingly.

You have following options to become Aeronautical Engineer:

(b) Aeronautical Engineering is an interdisciplinary degree. You can do M.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering after B.Tech in Mechanical or Electronics & other branches.
(c) You can join Aeronautical Society of India(AeSI). The AeSI is a professional body, devoted to the advancement of aeronautical sciences and engineering in India. The AeSI conducts Associate Membership Examination twice a year. In which applicant has to clear minimum 10 level of Section-A and 10 level of Section- B with training, Internship & projects of this examination which are recognised by the Ministry of Education, at par with a Bachelors Degree(B.Tech) in Aerospace Engineering of University from India.
