Hello Chirayu,
Between these two colleges I feel that SRM, Chennai is a better option. Facilities and faculty both are reportedly better. In addition, the placement cell functions very well.

To pursue aeronautical engineering, you need to score well in IIT-JEE Mains and Advance. You must target to get into IIST - Trivandrum or IIT - B/ D. If you have keen interest in physics and mathematics, than this branch is apt.

Hello Raman,
Normally lateral entry connotes entry in the 2nd year of engineering after the completion of Diploma in the similar branch of engineering. But after B.Sc, lateral entry is not allowed in B.Tech.

You are advised to take membership of Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI). Society conducts professional examinations by which students can have educational qualification equivalent to BTech Aeronautical Engineering. The AeSI conducts Associate Membership examination twice a year. Aspirants have to clear minimum 10 level of Section-A and 10 level of Section- B papers with training, Internship & projects. Those who clear Section-B are recognized equivalent to BTech Aeronautical Engineering by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India for higher studies and jobs.

Aeronautical engineering branch in IIT Mumbai, is most sought after. As a result one needs to score at least 90+ percentile in JEE Advanced to be sure of admission.

You may not able to do Ph.D in aeronautical engineering via M.Sc route. However, you are eligible to seek admission in 2nd year B.Tech aeronautical engineering as a lateral entry student after completing B.Sc in colleges such as Manipal University. With this route, you can pursue your educational dream.

Yes, you can pursue Aeronautical engineering after completing diploma in electronics. You can change the field of study and get admission in Aeronautical Engineering through lateral entry. You should be able to meet the criteria of percentage for admission as there are very few seats available for lateral entry. As your marks are good so you will get admission easily.

If you are getting admission in 1st year of engineering based on equivalence of Diploma with class 12th, then you can take admission in any branch of engineering. However, if you are seeking lateral entry in 2nd year of engineering, then there are some restrictions.
