B.Sc. In Biotechnology is a 3- year under-graduate course, involving an advanced study of the cellular and bi-molecular processes for development of a variety of technologies and products that contribute to improving peoples lives and health. The course is divided across 6 semesters, of six months each, and the basic eligibility for applying to the course is 10+2 qualification in the Science stream, completed from a recognised educational board. The course is offered in India at an average fee ranging between INR 1 and 3 lacs, varying across institutes. Admission to B.Sc. Biotechnology is entrance exam based. For admission to the course, eligible candidates are needed to qualify a relevant entrance examination, conducted at any of institute, state and national levels. Eligibility varies from university to university. Also, these days universities are offer B.Tech in Biotech, which is better than B.Sc. As it is a professional degree whereas B.Sc. Is just a general degree. Many good private universities like VIT, LPU, SRM, etc. are offering admissions in B.Tech. These private universities offer admission on the basis of tests like JEE and their own tests. Some offer you direct admission too on the basis of your marks in previous qualifying exam. All these are world-class universities with modern infrastructure and good placements. Few of them offer scholarships too.
