CAT score of 85 percentile is considered good for admission to MBA programs at various institutions.
The 2023-24 MBA cutoff at the Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM) Kolkata is 182–322 rank (CAT), 138–276 rank (MAT), and 138–276 rank (JEMAT). But this cutoff varies in different years due to the difficulty level of questions, number of students appeared. So it changes.

Eligibility for the MBA programme at Goel Group of Institutions necessitates candidates to hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with a minimum aggregate of 50%. Additionally, applicants are required to possess a valid score in a national level entrance exam like CAT. The aspirants who score CAT percentile in a range of 80-90 must not worry as there are many colleges accepting CAT score 80-90 percentile. It is also a good CAT score, and most MBA colleges do not pre-announce the cutoff. If you score 80 percentile in the CAT exam, you can expect good B-schools for admission. If you are aiming for the top 6 IIMs, then you must score 99 percentile for even getting shortlisted for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). However, for other top MBA colleges 90-95 percentile is good. A majority of CAT test takers fall in the category of 80-90 percentile.

The admission to JEMAT participating colleges is done based on the counselling process conducted by MAKAUT. Several colleges that accept JEMAT scores may also accept CAT scores for admission. Candidates must check the admission policy released by the participating colleges to know about the detailed admission process.

The university does not set a minimum percentile requirement for their admission and the cutoff changes from year to year depending on various factors like the difficulty of exams, number of students appearing the exam. It is better to have a high score since it increases your chances to get into the college. But as a general trend having a score above 60 is considered good enough to get admission in the university.
