Food technology is a branch of food science that deals with the production processes that make foods. There are four types of programmes in the field of food technology in India
1. Polytechnic Diploma course with the duration of 3 years after 10+2 examination.
*Diploma in Food Analysis and Quality Assurance
*Diploma in Food Science Technology
*Diploma in Food Science, Preservation and Management
2. UG degree courses leading to B.Sc and B.Tech with the duration of 4 years after 10+2 examination.
*Bachelor of Science in Food Technology.
*Bachelor of Science in Food Science.
*Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition.
3. PG degree courses leading to M.Sc and M.Tech with the duration of 2 years after the completion of UG in engineering.
4. Doctoral degree courses leading to the Ph.D domain with the duration of 1-2 years after the completion of PG degree.

You can only pursue undergraduate Diploma after completing class 10th from colleges like ITI. An undergraduate Diploma will not help you much in your professional career. It is better if you complete your class 12th in whatever stream you like and then apply for a Bachelor's programme:B.Des in fashion designing or in interior designing or lifestyle and accessory designing or whatever you would love to. A Bachelor's programme will give you a better understanding about design, and also you will have much better career prospectus. That will enhance your skills as a professional designer, so that you can get good job opportunities. Every well recognised college of design conducts campus placements. After doing a Bachelor's degree, you will easily get a package of INR 3 Lacs per annum.
