Karim City College (KCC), Jamshedpur, affiliated to Kolhan University came into existence in 1961. This college was established to basically impart knowledge to the weaker section of Jharkhand specially Muslims. KCC is a private college which offers 31 undergraduate and postgraduate courses in 22 departments across 3 streams namely arts, commerce & science. KCC also provides certificates & diplomas under add-on vocational courses with different specialisations.
The admissions in KCC are done on merit basis followed by an interview. But there is an exception to few courses as in mass communication, in which admissions are done on the basis of a written test followed by an interview. Students have a choice to complete the first two years of their degree programme at Christ University in Bangalore, India and then, they proceed to complete the remaining years of their studies at the affiliated foreign university and finally graduate from that University. After completion of 2 years in Christ University, students can transfer to partner foreign university for completion of the programme. In the foreign university the students may spend either 1 or 1.5 or 2 years.
