Jai Hind College, Mumbai has below criteria for taking admissions to it's various courses:

| Ph.D. | Candidates who have passed the M.Phil programme of the University of Mumbai or any other recognised University/ Institution, provided the M.Phil is as per UGC guidelines are also eligible to apply. |
| B.A. | Candidate must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board. |
| B.Sc. | Candidates who have passed Diploma (Three years after S.S.C. - X Std.) in Information Technology/ Computer Technology/ Computer Engineering/Computer Science/ Electrical, Electronics and Video Engineering and Allied Branches/Mechanical and Allied Branches/ Civil and Allied branches are eligible for direct admission to the Second Year of the B.Sc. (I.T.) degree Program. However, the Diploma should be recognised by the Board of Technical Education or any other recognised Government Body. Minimum marks required 45% aggregate for open category candidates and 40% aggregate for reserved category candidates. OR Candidates with post HSC-Diploma in Information Technology/Computer Technology/ Computer Engineering/ Computer Science/ and Allied branches will be eligible for direct admission to the Second Year of B.Sc. (I.T.). However, the Diploma should be recognised by the Board of Technical Education or any other recognised Government Body Minimum Marks required 45% aggregate for open category candidates and 40% aggregate for reserved category candidates. |
| B.Com | A candidate for being eligible for admission to the three-year degree Program leading to the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XII) examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent from any other Board. |
| B.Voc | A candidate for being eligible for admission to the three-year degree Program leading to the Bachelor of Vocation of Travel Tourism Management must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XII) examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent from any other Board. |
| BBM/BMS | Diploma in any Engineering branch with two/three years duration, after S.S.C. conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Maharashtra State, or its equivalent examination from other Boards by securing minimum 45% marks for general category (in one attempt) at the respective examination and minimum 40% marks for the reserved category (in one attempt). |
| BBA | Candidate must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board. |
| M.Sc. | Provided further the candidates hold a Graduate/Post Graduate Degree with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale in the qualifying Degree of BSc/ BCA/ B.Tech./B.E./ BA/ BAF/ BMS/ BBA/ BFM/ BBI/ BCom or equivalent will be eligible for this programme provided he/she has scored not less than 60% in aggregate at the other threshold Examinations of Standard X and Standard XII.*Note:Candidates from the SC / ST Category will be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in respect of the above requirement. Candidates, who are in the Final Year of their Degree Program, are also eligible to apply provided that their admission will be subject to the condition that they appear and pass in the final examination with a minimum of 46 credits or its equivalent (i.e, the minimum credits required for majoring in a subject, and excluding the credits for optional courses) in the subject and complete other academic requirements as specified above. |
| M.Com | The eligibility for admission to M.Com. Program is as per the criteria laid down by University of Mumbai & the Government of Maharashtra. Admissions will be on the basis of merit (percentage of aggregate marks/grade secured at the qualifying examination). Reservation criteria shall be followed as prescribed by the Government at the time ofadmission. |

Notable maritime education institutions in India are Delhi Maritime Academy and IMU (Indian Maritime University) Navi Mumbai. However, IMU is in a better position because it is a more reputable and long-standing university. Delhi Maritime Academy is a privately managed institution, however IMU is a central university with locations throughout India.
IMU does better in placements than Delhi Maritime Academy. Graduates from IMU tend to secure higher average salary packages compared to their counterparts from Delhi Maritime Academy. Additionally, IMU's reputation draws a greater number of top-tier recruiters in comparison to Delhi Mar
