Yes, an average student may get admission in IIT Ropar. This is because admissions depend more on consistent planning and practice. Students have to prepare for the accepted tests and aim to clear the cutoff. Admissions are offered on an entrance basis.

IIT Ropar generally does not offer direct admissions. Students have to clear the admission requirements to get admission. The institute offers seats through entrance + counselling basis only. Students can check the eligibility online.

Short answer — yes, it's possible in some cases, but it depends on the branch and year.

Thapar fills:

  • Major seats through JEE Main

  • Some seats through 12th PCM merit (board marks category)

If your PCM percentage is strong (usually 90%+ for safer side), you can compete in the board merit category. But for top branches like CSE/COE, it's still very competitive even through boards.

So yes, you can apply without JEE — but your 12th marks need to be good.

Bro 91.1 percentile is solid 👍 not crazy high, but definitely workable.

For Thapar:

  • CSE/COE is honestly tough at that percentile.

  • ENC/ECE maybe borderline.

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical — you've got a decent shot.

  • If you have Punjab quota, your chances improve a lot.

It really depends on competition this year, but yes — TIET is possible. Don't lose hope.

If you tell me your category + Punjab or outside, I'll give you a more real estimate.
