For Canada immigration, a degree acquired in distance education is completely valid. However a word of caution here. The immigration department is quite vigilant and they do verify the authenticity and genuineness of the qualification acquired through distance education. There are several instances where the immigration application have been rejected or doubts have raised about the validity of the qualification acquired through distance education. This mainly happens due to the doubt over the validity of recognition of the institute granting the degree. The immigration agency thoroughly checks the recognition of the status of the degree awarding institutions. The agency even checks the website of statutory bodies such as UGC / DEB to verify the recognition status of the institution. Many a times even after successful completion of the programme through distance education student have gone through hassles due to non recognition of the institute or unrecognized status of the institute. So the immigrant aspirants before enrolling for a distance education programs shall ensure the recognition status of the institution or else they may jeopardize their chances of immigration.
