M.Sc Geography is a 2-year programme that is distributed as 4 semesters in full-time mode in colleges like SS Jain Subodh PG College, Jaipur, Presidency College, Chennai, and Queen Mary's College, Chennai.
In distance mode duration is of minimum 2 years and maximum of 4 years in universities like Uttarakhand Open University, Nainital, Nalanda Open University, Patna and Tamil University, Thanjavur.
Eligibility for Master of Science (M.Sc) in Geography
In institutes like Presidency College-Chennai, Queen Mary's College-Chennai and Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI), New Delhi eligibility conditions that one needs to fulfil to get admission includes B.Sc (Hons.)/B.Sc in Geography passed with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
How to get admission in Master of Science (M.Sc) in Geography?
Every university conducts its own entrance exam for M.Sc. course. There is no joint examination for this programme. A candidate has to appear for the Postgraduate Entrance Test (PET) conducted by different universities which is generally conducted in the month of May/June and notification for the same comes in the month of February every year in institutes like Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla offers direct admission on merit basis only. While Delhi University and Presidency College offer admission both on merit basis and PET. About 60% of seats are reserved for direct admissions for the students of the respective university only and rest of the 40% admissions are done through PET.
