In this section, open-ended prompts will be there which will be shared with institutions with the score you obtain. It is a 10-minute section which contains two prompts out of which the candidate has to answer one. In the Speaking sample, the length of the response has to be between 1-3 minutes, whereas in the Writing Sample, it has to be between 3-5 minutes. Once the test is completed, the test takers will be able to review their answers to these samples.

Yes, as per the latest update which stated that interactive listening questions had been added to the Duolingo English Test. This new addition has been made in order to provide fresh, creative ways of measuring the test taker's proficiency skills which might come handy at a university. The test will have a total of two interactive listening situations, with two components each. One passage will contain a peer-to-peer interaction while the second one will have a student-to-professor interaction. Time limit will exist for both the components.

The purpose of Duolingo Test is designed in a manner so that it is convenient and accessible, as it allows candidates to take the test at a time and place that suits them, without the need to travel to a testing centre. Much like conventional study abroad exams like TOEFL, and IELTS, the DET also tests all four language skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking giving the applicants a comprehensive evaluation of their English proficiency. Thus, the purpose of DET is simple and based on ease of applicants testing.
