If we consider opting for research through GATE, then GATE Physics is ideal for careers in ISRO, BARC, DRDO, and other PhD-level research in theoretical and applied sciences.

On the other hand, the GATE CS is better for job-based roles, such as AI and ML, computational research and systems. However, if you are solely looking for research through GATE, then choose Physics for academics/research careers, and CS for applied computing and tech research.

The GATE Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is tailored for artificial intelligence and machine-level careers (AI/ML). The course curriculum has direct relevance to data Science and analytics roles. However, GATE CSE still offers more institute options, placements, and career opportunities. GATE DA is a new branch included in the GATE 2026 subjects, but in the coming years, it has a greater scope in careers, due to the advancement of technology towards Big Data and machine learning.

Overall, GATE DA is good for early specialisation and has good scope IN the future. On the other hand, GATE CS is an evergreen branch with heavy

Choosing JNTU Hyderabad CSE is best in my opinion because it is in a good city, whereas NIT Andhra Pradesh is in a village.

JNTUH is well established, whereas NIT Andhra Pradesh is still in the process

Even the fee will be higher for NIT Andhra Pradesh than JNTUH.

You can Still try for VIT Bhopal and VIT -AP as backups and feel free to also try in VIT Vellore you should apply in Vit Vellore and bhopal as high preference

With an AUEET 2025 rank of 2472 (General category), it is very unlikely that you will get CSE in Andhra University. In 2024, the closing rank for CSE was around 454 and approximately 1722 in 2023.

You can be certain to get admission from branches furnishing lower (higher rank) cutoffs such as Information Technology (IT) (cutoff ~4003) or Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) (cutoff ~1561), since they always get filled much higher ranks.

With an EWS rank of 41000, here is what to expect:

It is nearly impossible to get into a NIT or top IIIT for CSE branch as the EWS or OBC closing rank for this course usually comes below 10000. It is only the new NITs that may allow you into any branches such as electrical engineering or computer engineering depending on individual NIT's criteria and sometimes may allow to convert towards CSE/ IT branch if you are beyond 40000 - 45000 rank.

With a JEE Main rank of 90k one can count on colleges like J.C. Bose University (YMCA), Faridabad, DCRUST, Murthal, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (Delhi) through JOSAA/State counselling that are located in Haryana, Gurugram or Noida. These government/semi-government colleges will have CSE at a very low fee (?40K–?80K/year). You should also check out HSTES counselling in Haryana, which will consider every low fee option under these schemes where your fees will be extremely low due to OBC/EWS quotas.

With 37 percentile in JEE Mains and around 80700 rank, as a SC category student it will be very hard to get a seat in good government engineering colleges, because even with reservation the cut off is usually higher. But still you can try in some of the less popular branches or in newly opened government colleges where competition is less. Your 59% in HSC is enough for eligibility, so you can also look for state level counseling and some private colleges as backup.
