The University of Lucknow offers a four-year, full-time BTech course based on candidates' performance in the JEE Main entrance exam. For Mechanical Engineering, the JEE Main last round closing rank stood at 270103 for the General AI category students. The first-round cutoff for the same was 225423. So, considering the first and last-round cutoff ranks, the minimum rank required is 225423 to be eligible for admission to BTech in Mechanical Engineering. Admission to Jaya Engineering College (JEC), Thiruninravur, Chennai, for the B.E./B.Tech degree course is usually done through Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) which mainly recruits students on the merit basis of their 12th-class results. Students from states other than Tamil Nadu have the opportunity to get into this college based on individual requirements and without TNEA as they apply directly to the college with the management quota. This involves meeting the minimum academic qualification in college, and there could be some additional fees, so one should contact the admissions office directly to learn more.

The TNEA cutoff varies for different courses and different years at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering College, or DSEC. For instance, Computer Science and Engineering in the year 2022 closed with a rank of 36,670. However, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science had a closing rank of 72,129. In the case of Electronics and Communication Engineering, the closing rank was 46,650, and Mechanical Engineering closed at 107,612, the highest among the list. Cutoffs vary based on the demand for that particular course, the number of applicants, and the available seats.

Actually, it is possible to admit to the B.E./B.Tech course without TNEA in the A.R.J College of Engineering and Technology (ARJCET) through the management quota. Even though TNEA is the main road for class 12-mark admissions, the college may conduct direct admission under the management quota, which usually do not demand the TNEA rank. However, the candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria, like having the required marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the class 12 level. It is always better to contact the college's admission office for specific details regarding the management quota.
