With a GATE XL score of 576 and rank of 952, it is unlikely to secure admission to IIT Guwahati's M.Tech in Biomedical Engineering in 2025. The closing GATE scores for IIT Guwahati M.Tech programs usually range around 750 or higher (General category), and Biomedical-related specializations also fall within a similar cut-off bracket.

A good score in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) generally means a score that allows you to get into a prestigious institute for higher studies or job.

  • A GATE score above 800+ is good for admission into top IITs like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, etc.
  • A GATE score around 650 - 750 is good for admission to mid-tier IITs, like IIT Patna, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Bhilai, etc.

Overall, GATE DA is good for early specialisation and has good scope IN the future. On the other hand, GATE CS is an evergreen branch with heavy

Like for example -

  • In PSUs, the salary mainly ranges between 7.6 LPA to 18 LPA
  • Salary range in FAANG companies mainly range between 45 LPA to 2.5 crore per annum (through IITs and IISc)
  • Salary range in private companies mainly ranges between 15 LPA to 60 LPA

Scoring 5 out of 100 (raw marks) in GATE 2025 Mechanical Engineering means you have not qualified. The qualifying mark for the General category is around 25 or more, while for reserved categories it's lower. Since 5 marks is well below the cutoff, no GATE score or rank will be issued.
