Class 12 marks do not impact into IIT admissions. But if you get 70 and above then there are more chances to be highlighted after GATE.
Gate is given for Masters admission especially M.Tech .
Gate score between 400 and 800 is required to get admission in IIT or NITs.

Yes, it is possible to get into some NITs with a GATE score of 395 and AIR 1217, especially if you are from a reserved category or are open to less competitive branches or specializations. While the chances of getting into top NITs or highly sought-after specializations are slim, there are NITs with lower cutoffs where admission is possible with this score.

With 38 marks in GATE 2025 (CSE branch) and belonging to the EWS category, you can expect the following:
Expected GATE Rank (CSE – 2025):
Overall Rank: Around 8,000 to 10,000 (approx.)
EWS Category Rank: Likely in the range of 1,200 to 1,500 (approx.)
These are estimated based on previous years' trends. Actual ranks may vary slightly based on the difficulty of the paper and overall student performance.

There are around 440 colleges for Production Engineering in India, out of which 110 colleges accept the GATE exam scores for giving admission to the M.Tech Production Engineering course. Since the GATE exam is the top national-level entrance exam for PG courses, there is intense competition for seats at top colleges, and hence you need to work extra hard to get excellent marks and rank to grab a seat for the course.
